Thanks 03maximilian. I actually purchased the MotoBatt battery seeing that the dimensions were real close to stock for my '85 V-max. I tried to install it and got it 3/4s of the way in and it got stuck. I couldn't push it all the way in and then I couldn't pull it out. I liked the...
Thank you Tex85. I see many like this battery. My concerns are that it doesn't fit in the stock battery box and the terminal posts are different. I am impressed with the 440 CCA and can't believe the $35.00 price. It seems almost too good to be true?
I am tired of having to remove my '05 V-max battery to refill the water. A pain. Has anyone tried or heard anything about the Bikemaster Tru-Gel battery? I am concerned about the 175 CCA since my Yuasas have been 200 CCA and have performed well as have my Interstates. The Bikemaster fits...
Thank you all for your replies. I will try to determine what kind of oil it is before going further. 10,000 miles seems a little soon for this problem. My '85 never had anything like this at 45,000 miles. Wood
A little off the subject but what could cause an oil leak out of the little hole at the bottom of the rubber boot? Is there some sort of seal in there that would mean removing the drive shaft? thanks for any help. Wood
Thank you everyone for your answers. I actually got 2 new silencer gaskets on eBay for $4.25. I hope I can salvage another two from the original damaged muffler.
I am replacing a smashed stock muffler set with a good used stock set (I want to keep one of my '05s stock). The replacement mufflers have the silencer gaskets in them but some are in pretty bad shape. I have reviewed all 21 pages of exhaust postings but found nothing about these gaskets...
#2381. Completely stock. Runs great, great condition. Only problems in 25 years: One sticky carb diaphragm, starter clutch and some connector corrosion. 40000 plus miles riding on both Florida and Oregon Coasts almost exclusively. Could explain connector corrosion.
Go to vmaxoutlaw.com. Then go to tech on left menu. Then go to electrical, ignition etc. Then go to "Crimp" fix. A great pictorial on the fix. Good luck. When soldering, be sure to heat the wires, not the crimp, to draw in the solder.
I am convinced that a need a new R/R on my stock '85, I am only charging at 13V. Two questions: 1) Has anyone tried the Shindengen #SH569A-12 R/R from RegulatorRectifier.com? It is $70.00. I prefer a replacement the doesn't require altering the stock mounting. 2) What is the best way to...
