    Fun at bike cruise ins...

The first time my buddy saw my vmax he pointed at it and said "Hey, that thing is just like a motorcycle....only faster". I gotta admit that the only reason I still have and love this this bike is because of this forum and it's members who are always ready to reach out to another vmaxer who is...

Vmax, still faster than a speeding ticket

I felt like I was in a movie!! Great story. Was that your beautiful 97 vmax that just sold on Ebay? If so someone got a nice bike with a ton of mods for an unbelievable price.

    laid it down!

Thamk god you walked away from it...heck..you even rode away from it. The flesh will heal and the bike can be repaired. Glad you're ok.

    To Hot To Ride?

I gotta admit that as I'm getting older (I just turned 49) I have less tolerance for the heat. I will ride if it's below 90 but when I stop I'm always looking for a shady spot. I live in Long Island, NY and I prefer to ride in the spring and fall. I do enjoy summer rides but if it's too hot...

    Repack exhaust?

This stuff is a liitle more money but it works great. I got the 1/2" thick stuff. It's still in there after 2 years. http://www.ebay.com/sch/ndangels/m.html?_nkw=&_armrs=1&_from=&_ipg=&_trksid=p3686

    dumb oil question

I use regular rotella 15-40 in both of my bikes (vmax and xs1100) year round and I live in the northeast with varying temperatures. No problems at all with my bikes or that oil. I don't use synthetic oils. Nothing against them but just no need. Do what makes you happy.

Never thought it would happen like this

Glad you're ok. That almost happened to me once. I had just finished gassing up and was putting on my gloves. I turned around to see a woman in her car behind me less than 3 feet from my bike. She had her head turned all the way to the left staring at the pump and was moving closer and closer to...

    Too loud! I know rite?!?!

If the baffle is there but has no packing you can get baffle wrap from this ebay seller below. I have kerker slipons and used the 1/2" thick wrap he sells to repack the baffle. It gave it a nice tone. http://www.ebay.com/sch/ndangels/m.html?_nkw=&_armrs=1&_from=&_ipg=&_trksid=p3686

Or these... http://www.flyncycle.com/MOTORCYCLE_PASSENGER_HOLD_ON_GRIPS_p/lugpil.htm My wife likes them.

    sissibar installed.

Actually, I've never had issues with my wifes aforementioned body parts being too close to me. I would worry about the strength of the setup though. I do however like that the pad sits closer because my wife does not like the stock backrest on the vmax. She told me that she is too far away from...

    Tourmaster Flex Series 2 motorcyclegear.com

Hi Guys, My buddy bought the jacket below. He brought it in and I tried it on. Nice jacket. I bought one today. You can't beat it for the price ($96.00) and free shipping too. It's 2 jackets in one and is suitable for year round riding. Watch the video for it...

    Over heating 86 fixed

Well....now you have 2 kickass bikes!!! My 96 vmax started puking out of the overflow too. Of course I searched the forum and it seemed as though most of the posts regarding this issue had the words "head gasket" in it. I too thought the worst. My bike however was not overheating at all...

    Stock Vmax Grips

I like the stock vmax grips but I put these on my xs1100 and I like them. They do make the grip a little thicker though. They are basically foam grips that fit over your existing grips. Inexpensive solution. http://www.casporttouring.com/cst/motorcycles/GRIPPUP.html

    Bike tools...

A lot of members seem to favor the Morgan Carbtune. Whatever tools you carry on your bike is up to you. http://www.carbtune.com/ Some good suggestions (and sarcasm) regarding tools to carry on your bike below. http://www.vmaxforum.net/showthread.php?t=22248

Sean and Python - thumbs up

Sean is always helpful and will answer all questions regarding the vmax from the very technical to the very mundane. He has shipped me parts in the past and told me "use what you need and we'll figure out the payment later". Where else are you going to get a deal like that? He recently rebuilt...

    good bag for rack?

I use the one below. Attaches well with the built in bungee cords. Easy on/off too. You can use it strapped to the passenger seat or luggage rack. http://www.motorcyclegear.com/parts/closeouts/luggage/nelson_rigg/cl700_expandable_motorcycle_tail_pack.html

    Replacing spark plugs

You will need a thin wall 18mm deep socket to remove the plugs. I have a 4-5" length of fuel line that I use to put the plug in and start threading it slowly and carefully. Do not overtighten.

    Vendors....

Agreed!!! Sean is always helpful and responds to emails promptly. Anything I need for my vmax I purchase from him.

Cheap solution....go to a shoemaker and have him add an extra inch of sole to your riding boots.
