39th season comes to a close

I just came in from putting Godzilla away for the season. And an interesting season it was. I had that major air leak problem in the summer, but that was a simple fix, and the bike ran great - for about 500 miles. The problem resurfaced a few weeks ago, and with the wedding of my son and his...

    Delkevics 14 inch oval muffler.

Anyone got one, maybe the undamaged one left from after dropping the bike. Godzilla fell off a jack a couple of years ago while I was replacing the clutch slave cylinder, and damaged the right muffler when it got pushed into the shock. No damage on the outside, but a nasty dent where the pipe...

    Update on Godzillas pending retirement.

My knee feels pretty good now, so about an hour ago I went out to the garage, Phillips screwdriver in hand. This was gonna be a battle to the death. I ascertained that the 2 left side carburetors were well seated, and the right ones were not. I loosened all 4 clamps, and prepared to fight the...

    Retirement time.

I think it's time to retire Godzilla. Age is catching up with me and the bike is just too uncomfortable to ride. I've used nothing but E Zero gas since Danny did the carbs a couple years ago, but this season the bike ran badly from the start and now won't even start. It's backfiring through the...

    Popping thru exhaust.

Had Godzilla's carbs done by Danny about a year or so ago, bike ran fine. This year, I'm getting popping thru the exhaust when I let off on the throttle, when riding, or just blipping the throttle in neutral. Every drop of gas since rebuild has been ethanol free. I dosed the bike with a healthy...

Lost a friend a few weeks ago.

Anyone who rode a motorcycle from the Buffalo NY area over the last 50 years knew, or knew of Don George. He sold me my first Yamaha, an RD350 back in February of 1973. He passed away last month, 50 years to the day after I bought the RD from him. He was a good man, and a great friend. He...

    Dented Delkevic!

I replaced the clutch slave cylinder on Godzilla a couple years ago. I thought the bike was well supported on the jack, but sadly it fell off... The only damage was to the right muffler, it got a big dent on the inside, where the bottom of the shock absorber hit. I took the muffler apart, but...

Parts For Sale Got 4 COPS connectors - the end that connects to the coil stick.

Anyone who is thinking of making a set of COPS connectors, and is trying to find the plugs that attach to the sticks, look no further. I bought a set of 8, figuring that I'd keep 4 for spares, and offer the other ones up to someone in need. They are brand new, and have about 6 inch long leads...

    End of an era..

Back in late 1972, a local dealership came up with a great way to sell RD350 motorcycles. They were listed at weighing 299 lbs, and the insurance rates in NY back then were lower for bikes under 300 pounds. "The power of a big bike with the insurance premium of a lightweight". I was a die hard...

    Godzillas new paint.

Gave the motor a good clean and repaint, then the bottom of the scoops and side cover. Note the Venture trim disk on the clutch cover. Opinions needed about the red trim on the wheels.

    Sweet Jesus!

I got my carbs back from Danny last week, and got them on, after cleaning up and doing a quick paint job on some parts. The bike started up instantly, and the first time I cracked the throttle, 3 words went through my head: "Worth Every Penny!". Amazing, this machine hasn't run this well for a...

Parts Wanted That round flat cover over the, clutch cover.

Anyone who might have done the clear clutch cover mod still have the original flat part that attached to the clutch crankcase cover? PM me with availability and price. Mine is cracked, and I'm doing a bit of refurbishing on Godzilla, and would like to replace it. It is unavailable from Yamaha...

    1st Gen V-Max Godzilla!

Presently down for a carb overhaul. Original owner, bought 4/18/1985. So far, never been into the engine farther than clutch and stator. My profile listing shows mods.

Rebuilt carbs so well the bike won't run off idle.

I tore down the carbs on my '85 a couple weeks ago. New diaphragms / slides, jets, and carb boots. New air cleaner, and spark plugs. Engine fires up instantly on choke, and will idle OK after it warms up. Touch the throttle and it dies. I have the carbs balanced well, and there are no air leaks...

2 left side carbs not drawing vacuum..

I did a carb teardown and cleaning last week. New main and pilot jets, new mixture screws and rubber o-rings, new diaphragms/ slides, new lower carb boots. Hooked up the Morgan Carbtune and the left cylinders show no vacuum. The rods don't move. I sprayed some carb cleaner around the boots, no...

Free (for the shipping cost) to a good home carb diaphragms.

I'm doing an overhaul on Zillas carbs. I have new diaphragms with slides. In my rebuild kits are 4 new diaphragms. What I'm offering is the new diaphragms, and my old ones with the slides. You will have to switch out the rubbers yourself. The slides are original to a 1985, hopefully they're not...
