    1982 Yamaha XJ750 Seca Factory/Haynes Manual ?

My friend's son is trying to restore a 1982 Yamaha XJ750 Seca. He is doing all the work himself and sadly Yamaha does not have OEM parts for that bike. He, even tried to buy the Haynes manual for his bike on Ebay, but sadly he got ripped off. He paid, but they never sent him the manual. I...

Let’s help this guy fix his bike

You say air filters (multiple) and not air filter (singular). Does he have a pod air filter on each carb and not a single air filter in the stock air box? If he has four pod filters, that would imply that he has a Dynojet stage 7 kit installed. If so, that is important information. Does he also...

    Shinko tyres

Most people get around 5000 miles out of the rear tire and ~7000-8000 miles out of the front.

Best tire life for gen 2

I prefer the Metzeler Lasertec 110/90-18V or the Bridgestone Battlax BT45V 110/90-18up front for more spririted riding in the twisties. You can check out a spreadsheet with pretty much every tire that fits the stock Gen 1 rims here...

    Clutch gone, Need advice

I have the Barnett 6 spring clutch with the standard (Gold) springs and I'm very happy with it. I would NOT personally want to use the HD (red) springs, I'm sure they would grab too hard and add too much lever pull for me I do know a few guys said that they used the Medium (Green) springs and...

    Vmax quotes

This One: “When you cruise the streets on a V-Max … you aren’t innocently looking for someone to race with, you’re trolling for fresh victims, for poor unsuspecting souls to chew up and spit out your exhaust pipes.” — Cycle World, May 1985 And another: "In 1985, the brand-new 1,198cc, 70-degree...

    Hotter than usual

Oil level should be filled according to the Owners Manual. As far as temps go, I lived in North Carolina for years and in 100-105 F temps my Vmax would get almost to the red zone when I was stuck in traffic. I installed the manual fan over ride switch and after that I just turned the fan...

I'm glad to hear it was an easy fix. I chased a no spark issue for a few weeks and luckily it also ended up being a fairly easy fix.
