    Tires to old?

THIS. Tires dry out, lose elasticity, crack and harden as they age. That means less traction and heat and pressure will tear them up sooner. You should replace them after about 7 years or so. No way I would accept tires I bought new that were 3-4+ years old already let alone 10-15 years. I...

600 mile Eng. Oil Change - Any suggestions besides Yamalube?

Oil change intervals before testing were 1,550 miles 975 miles 1350 miles 1975 miles Not sure about time between changes. Usually I change it in November when I put the bike away for the winter and then usually in late August.

600 mile Eng. Oil Change - Any suggestions besides Yamalube?

looking back I have to caveat this. Mobil 1 4T 10/40 has done well in all of my bikes except (maybe) the Vmax 1700 . Ive done 4 UOAs between 2000-11500 miles on this bike and every time the oil has always sheard down to where the viscosity was just under where it is expected to be. UOA...

    Shinko 011's - Found 4/10!! In stock

I used a Dunlop Q3 twice on my 240 rim before switching to the OEM rim. Great tire. Unfortunately they dont make a front in the Gen 2 size.

Jack for Gen 2 with no cat, has Akra midpipe

that actually works?? Id have assumed the weight of the bike would bend the exhaust or put and enormous load on the pipes at the heads.

    Corbin seat?

I have the same front seat and it took a few thousand miles to break in but I can ride it for hours and not be bothered one bit. Great seat.

    Gen 1 in 2020

I just did 1300 miles in 5 days on my Gen II in the mountains of Va/WVa which included a good bit of highway to get there and back. First time Ive taken this bike on the yearly trip. I spent a few weeks riding locally and trying to dial in the suspension and I was shocked how fast and well I...

    Gen 1 in 2020

Ive been a Vmax guy forever. Finally got a 2000 Gen 1 but sold it in 05 when my son was born. Always swore Id get a Gen 2 if they ever made one. They did. Picked up a used/modified 09 in 2011. Big Air kit, wide wheel kit, Nash Flash etc. Bought a 2014 KTM SuperDuke brand new in 15, put on a...

    Modified air box

my winter project may be to do the TT box and go that route then get Tim to reflash the ECU and see how it is. I have the stacks, and the air box but I DONT know if the guy I bought the bike from gave me all the intake parts and I would need to figure out how to make the stacks work again...

    Modified air box

I think the trumpets in the OEM airbox are the key to the midrange torque. The MBA kit pod filters allows the most air of course but the air is not streamlined or maybe better to say it doesnt develop the velocity as quickly as the trumpets, so you dont develop as much midrange torque, but do...

    ecu reflashing

Im not an expert but I stayed at a holiday inn express once. Im sure people will chime in to correct me If Im wrong. Tim did extensive testing and dyno tuning on the Vmax to create his programs. Im nearly 100% sure he tunes each cylinder vs just an overall tune. Id say he has the most...

    ecu reflashing

Another vote for Tim the Vmax Guru. I had the power commander and didnt have good luck with it. Removed it and put Tim's ECU in and never looked back. Zero issues, miles of smiles. I love it.

    Suspension Adjustment

Im working on this too. I weigh 240lbs and put the settings to the middle and went from there. I found that I have twice as many (or more) "clicks" front and back on compression and rebound settings as the manual states. So my front max hard starting from 0(max soft) is Preload 5, Rebound...
