Help removing old pushrod oil seal

So yeah, mine was stuck in there good. I didn't know the seal was rubber coated metal, so when I saw the metal after I ripped off some of the rubber I was confused. I finally got it out pretty clean. Cleaned out the hole, put some more sealer around the edged and put the new seal and rod back...

Help removing old pushrod oil seal

I don't know if it was leaking but since the rebuild kit came with a new one, I decided to replace it. I tried pliers, screwdriver and coat hanger and can't get it out, but it is trashed now so I can't keep it in. First, does it fit over a metal piece and does the metal piece come out...

How to change your water pump seals

Well, that was quite the adventure for me, The Noob Wrencher. I'd been hesitant to open up the engine before, but I had all the parts and figured I'd save a few hundred dollars doing it myself. It wasn't too hard with the Haynes book and this how to guide. I had to find and buy a 26mm socket to...

    Coolant leak, help

Great. Now after buying a new battery because my old one died for no reason, I am getting the leaking out of this hole. So to sum up, I need parts 6(bearing), 7(oil seal), 8(mechanical seal), 9(o-ring) 13(drain plug washer), 18(water pump gasket), and 23(o-rings) I'm also getting a 22...

What did you do to your Vmax today? Part 2

That looks exactly like the one I have. LED? Anyway, when the brakes are on the brake light is just barely brighter than the tail light, I don't know why.

    left side crank case leak

Mine's leaking out the top so I assume it's the gasket. There is not much info in the Haynes book about replacing the gasket. Is it as simple as removing the 11-12 bolts and replacing the gasket? I assume you have to drain the oil first, of course I just changed it....

What did you do to your Vmax today? Part 2

Replaced speedometer Gear Assembly, changed motor and final drive oil and oil filter.

    Speedometer cable break

Nope, the cable was the same length, it was the plastic gear inside the Gear Assembly. You can see how the metal gear wore a groove in the plastic. The new one was all metal.

    Speedometer cable break

Yup, looks like the plastic gear inside the gear assembly is worn out.

    Speedometer cable break

Gah! Stopped working again, figured it snapped again and bought a new generic one.(<$20) Took it apart and found it did not break. I could spin the cable by hand and the speedo would blip up. Put it back together and still didn't work. I guess I have to take the wheel off and check out the gear...

What is this in my brake reservoir?

I thought that might be what it was for. Mine is a '99. Just put on my SS front line. Gotta be careful not to lock it up now!

What is this in my brake reservoir?

I was draining my front brake reservoir and found this thin piece of metal that fit across the reservoir lengthwise(see pix). What is it's purpose?

What did you do to your Vmax today? Part 2

Installed SS front brake lines and rebuilt MC. WAY harder than it should have been. First, a rounded allen bolt in my reservoir cap, no other bit worked, had to buy an EZ-out. Then my cheap snap ring pliers were too short to get into the master cylinder, had to buy better/longer ones. Then my...
