    Sorry, another 2nd gear thread.

In the next couple of months I am going to be undertaking the dreaded 2nd gear fix. I have read loads about undercutting, reworked gears, etc. But I am UK based, and have decided I will go for new/nearly new stock setup. I am fine with most mechanical things (my bikes never go into a garage...

    Small Amount of Fabrication Please

Would anyone be willing to fabricate me a left footpeg bracket (the piece with the two welded on nuts) ready to be welded onto the frame to replace my damaged and bent one in a bit of a hurry in the next 7 days or so? It needs to be as per the original peice, ready for the old one to be...

    Rider Pegs Fitment

Hopefully this will be easy to answer..... I know the footpegs changed at some point (I have both the 1985 and 1996 microfiche), but is the fitment the same size? ie. if I get late model front pegs, will they fit an 85's bracket? Basically if I get aftermarket pegs designed for the later...

    Universal slip on adapter

Does anyone make an adapter that converts the twin mid-pipes (that most slip-ons attatch to) into a single port, so that, in theory any can with the right size hole can be fitted? The "Devil" slip on had something like this I believe. A short 2-into-1 adapter piece, then the can onto that...

    Remote Master Cylinder Reservoirs

I am in the process of gathering the bits to do the R1 front brake upgrade on my '85, and I have braided lines, adapter brackets, blue spot calipers and an R1 master cylinder. Today I needed to bleed my clutch (I have a tiny leak somewhere, as this needs doing about twice a year) , and totally...

    Frame cross brace

Does anyone have an image of the post-1995 VMAX with the "curved" cross brace to clear the spin on filter. Just about to get the adapter for my '85, but need the curved brace. Never seen one close up, and don't know what to look for that's different. Cycle one-off want $105 for a brand new one...

    Car oil?

I just did an oil change, and as i had some (brand new sealed) 10w40 semi-synthetic motor oil i used it. Is there a difference between 10w40 oil semi synthetic marketed for cars and 10w40 part sythetic for motorcycles? I figure that 10w40 is 10w40 no matter what it's for? :ummm:

    Balance H Pipe Rotted

So, after a number of bodged repairs, my balance pipe finally decided it had had enough. It jetisonned itself onto the M40 (freeway) on the way home from the Bulldog Bash (HAMC England biker bestival) - still around 100 miles from home. So I had to ride back with virtually open headers on the...

    Fender Extender Source

Does anyone know a cheap souce for a front "fender extender" - the thing that can increase the length on the rear of the front fender to avoid mud and crap being thrown up the radiator fins. Exactrep sells them, but they are ?30gbp + shipping (about $50+ ?) which seems a lot of money :confused2...

    85 - 86 brakes

Ok, this question may have been asked before, but are the calipers the same on a 86 model as an 85 model? It's just that 99% of the brake pads I see for sale say "Fits models 1986-92". I know the 93-03 are different, and so on, but did the 86 have different pads to the 85? or should I just buy...

    No start, just clicking relay!

Ok, when I try to start with the button, the starter relay clicks and thats it, nothing else. I'm not very mechanical minded, so my thought process doesn't go beyond taking things out and putting this back together! No joy with a jump start -from the car just the same (starter relay clicks)...
