What all do I need to rebuild the front forks on a 1988 vmax 1200? I think they are blown out, thank you.

So I’ve owned a 1988 vmax for about a year and I noticed the switch on the left scoop, I did some research and found that it is possibly the vboost control switch, and if so is it on when the tip of the switch is up or down? Probably a stupid question to most. Also, are the any real advantages...
