Seattle / South King County riding?

Hey there, My finace' usually rides with. It'd be cool to have another V-Maxer to run around with on occasion. Randy and Jackie 206.669.6367 cell 253.929.6042 business

Lowering a max?? Good or bad?

I dropped my bike down the front tubes an inch or so. Sure makes it handle better. The only negative is that the brake line will rub against the radiator on compression - the vibration it creates can be a little unnerving if you aren't paying attention.

    Remove Battery over Winter?

I connected a slow-charger to mine. I can see why you guys wire up pigtails- it's pretty tight quarters in there for hooking up a charger!

    Remove Battery over Winter?

I went out and rode my bike a few blocks the other day after not running it for a couple months. The battery did not seem to be low in the least after all the sitting in the cool weather. It made me wonder if I need to remove it or disconnect it all this winter. Do you guys that live in cold...

    NW Oyster Run

Ya know, I live in the Seattle area. I've had my Max for 3 months and I have yet to see another on the road.

    Follow-up to earlier "Clunk-Shift" post

A while back I posted a question about how to consistently get a smooth shift from 1st to 2nd gear on my 2007 'Max. Much was discussed - thanks to all. I wanted to point out an observation I've made. I have read in this forum that, when buying a used 'Max, one thing to check is the proper...

    My new ride

I can't speak to the lowering bit, but that is a great looking VMAX!

Do you let people ride your 'Max?

My fiance' invited a her friends over the other day (a couple). I have a Beta 525RR woods bike, a Honda Express scooter, a couple riding lawn mowers, and the 'Max. Assuming the guy (very cool guy BTW) would be intimidated by a BRAND NEW 2007 1200CC bike that looks...well...like a V-Max looks - I...

    Max wheelie ?

There is nothing that feels cooler than taking off at an intersection such that you get the revs up to about 5500 as you are hitting the crown (middle of the intersection), then nailing it and carrying the tire 6" off the ground all the way to the other side. Probably no better way to get a...

Re: Problem with dropping bike down on shocks Maybe I'm a dumb head, but I don't know what a "Galfer" is :ummm: .

Problem with dropping bike down on forks

I dropped my 2007 down 1-1/2" on the fork tubes. WOW! What a difference in handling. I prefer it big time. The only problem is that now the clutch and brake lines are in a permanently bowed position and sitting against the radiator, where they will surely rub the paint off of the radiatior...

What did you do to your Vmax today?

I prefer my rebounds set at 1 when it's just me. My fiance' says she feels like she's being catapulted off the bike with them set at 1, so when we double up, I set them at 4. I weigh 270. She does not. :eusa_dance:

Who knows how to avoid the CLUNK shift?

This discussion has really been educational for me. "red98VMax" has solved my problem. Putting pressure on the shifter prior to shifting alleviates most of the clunking. I was skeptical at first, but I kept an open mind and it works! And this is why it works, IMO. It seems that the VMax has a...

Who knows how to avoid the CLUNK shift?

This all helps...at least I know I'm not the only clunker. Robbarrie hit on the reason for my concern: it shifts sooooo well in the upper gears. I also often shift without the clutch even though a shaft-drive bike doesn't have quite as much slop as a chain drive. It's just that 1st to 2nd that...

Who knows how to avoid the CLUNK shift?

Great feebback. Thank you and I'm on it! (Changing the oil and experimenting with a little prepolad on the shifter). Hey 4Gasem, I sorta wonder if they use a thinner oil for break-in than what is optimal....

Who knows how to avoid the CLUNK shift?

Still have the original oil in it. I'm just at 600 miles now - it's time for a change. Is Shell Rotella T 15W40 a synthetic? Where can one get it?

Who knows how to avoid the CLUNK shift?

Uh oh...it's starting to sound like I'm the only one who experiences this hard shift....
