Exhaust header clamp confusion please help

Yep, I've got the headers off now and had another look, there's no room to double them up, just as well as two rings (one each header) is £36 total! Looked on Ebay and the closest size I can find is 35mm x 43mm, may give this size a go.

Exhaust header clamp confusion please help

Hi all Apologies for the bump on an old post, but did this get solved in the end? I'm having the exact same issues with mine, really rough running, cutting out, clanking noise. There's carbon all over the exhaust joints so there is an exhaust leak. The copper ring just rattles about in between...

    Remove clutch pushrod seal

Hey, sorry again for being late.I used this puller, got it from eBay, it's flat which helped get it in that gap. One of the hooks bent at first but think in doing that it made a tear in the seal, then using the hook on the other side it popped out. Be careful of the neutral/alternator wires...

    Remove clutch pushrod seal

Cheers loads for the help everyone, much appreciated! Apologies for my late reply. From maleko89's post I found a flat seal puller off eBay, managed to get the seal out with this and new one fitted today. Thanks again all!

    Remove clutch pushrod seal

Hi all I'm rebuilding the clutch slave cylinder on my 97 Vmax: I need to remove the seal for the clutch pushrod, as it's leaking oil from the crankcase into the slave cylinder. I'm having trouble with taking out the old seal, I've tried a hooked pick tool but that's just torn the inside of the...

Clutch sticking in gear with Barnett coil spring conversion

Many thanks again for your time and replies FM. I've been looking into this again and now I think the tabs are OK. I've looked at the Haynes manual for the bike and found pictures of the locknut in place and the washer tabs are in the same position. I've attached a pic of the locknut on my...

Clutch sticking in gear with Barnett coil spring conversion

Ok thanks FM, so I'll need to adjust the locknut. I don't have the clutch tool to hold the basket, so would it be safe getting the bike to 5th without the plates inside and standing on the rear brake to tighten it? Thanks again.

Clutch sticking in gear with Barnett coil spring conversion

Thanks again FM and MM for your replies and my apologies for the mix up, I should've said the extra plate mod instead of the DD mod. I've read elsewhere about the spring washer reducing the clunkiness. What came out the bike was 8 full friction discs and 7 steels. Apologies again but I after...

Clutch sticking in gear with Barnett coil spring conversion

Cheers for your replies MM and FM, it's much appreciated. Max Midnight, thanks for finding that, I'd been trying to look for Barnett fitting instructions. I've got the plates out now so I'll find out the overall stack height. Fire Medic, I have Silkolene semi synth 10w40 in there at the moment...

Clutch sticking in gear with Barnett coil spring conversion

Hi all My V-Max has always had problems with the gears sticking when I downshift - the gear lever won't go to the next gear down unless I blip the throttle first. It also can't find neutral with the engine running, again I'd need to blip the throttle first before it does go in neutral. Also...

Carb float catching on jet holder assembly?

All done. Little tweak on the pivot pin with thumb pressure and the float is moving properly now and not catching anymore. Many thanks again to you all for your help. This forum has helped me out before and I'm properly grateful.

Carb float catching on jet holder assembly?

That's great info, yep I'll look at straightening that pin. Just a little pressure using small pliers should do the job? Thanks again everyone I appreciate this.

Carb float catching on jet holder assembly?

Hi everyone. Currently cleaning and rebuilding the carbs on my 97 Vmax Canada import. Bike has been unable to idle (have to blip the throttle at traffic lights to stop the bike stalling) and also the idle races to 3500-4000 sometimes too. Found a number of faults already with the carbs but...

    Cam Chain Tensioner Adjustment

Hi all, Picked up a 1997 V-Max Canadian import a few months ago. Since I had it it's been making a ticking noise, happening at pretty much all revs and on the overrun. After thinking it was the valves out of adjustment I had this done and the noise was still there. It's coming from the rear...

    Pickup Coil Connector

Just re-read Unruhly's post about the battery voltages, and realised I need to check the voltage with the ignition on just after cranking - I had tested with the ignition off. Argh! My apologies for the misunderstanding Unruhly. With the ignition staying on after cranking the engine, what kind...

    Pickup Coil Connector

Hi again all, sorry to dig up an old thread. I'd replaced the coils with COPS from a GSXR and made the harnesses for these with the resistors. Still no joy in getting the bike to start I'm currently testing to see if the CDI box has broken by seeing if there is a voltage in the connectors...

    C.O.P.Got a little hot

This is interesting...how come you reckon the unresistored wires won't damage the CDI? I'm making up COP wires at the moment, and have sorted 1.5ohm x 20W resistors (ceramic block type, bigger than I thought they'd be!). I should be ok with these resistors at the front, but I don't think I...

    Pickup Coil Connector

Cheers again Unrhuly. The 10.8 - 10.8V is whilst cranking the motor. Afterwards the voltage is 12.46V.

    Pickup Coil Connector

Hi sorry for the wait getting back on here. Cheers for the tip jfeagins. I've checked the battery voltage. After connecting the battery back up there was approx 12.6V just hooked up. With ignition on and spinning the starter for a few seconds I get 10.7 - 10.8V. With ignition back off, the...
