    Towing with a dolly

Thank you, I will not deliberately destroy my bike. I suspected this and now it is confirmed.

    Towing with a dolly

Thank you gentlemen. You confirmed my suspicion.

    Towing with a dolly

If the trans output shaft spins the oil in the gallery then it is ok to tow. I just don't know because I never split the engine. Others?

    Towing with a dolly

Can you tow a Vmax with a dolly? Rear tire on the ground. I'm wondering about the bearings inside the trans and their lubrication.

    Five quick and fast Yamahas

Those videos with their definitions are self- explanatory. No need to even watch them if you as a Vmax owner know what you have.

    VMAX 1200 radiator fan performance?

My fans kick in at half way up too, right on that barely visible small dot on the dial. Normal operating temp 1/3 on the dial. I also have a manual override switch but it has been as a backup only. Never needed it as of today. Fan temp switch swapped for earlier engagement too.

    VMAX 1200 radiator fan performance?

I've got a stock system with a cooler than stock thermostat. Never had any issues at all even in hot Texas summer with 110 degrees and sitting in traffic. I'd say it works damn good.

    Broken Plug

    Interesting. I'll have to try.

    Broken Plug

There's always some shavings with cutting tools. The way to avoid that is to apply plenty of axle grease into the area that traps everything. PS. Since you like single malt, try Balvenie. My absolute favorite.

    Broken Plug

I'm glad you got it done. Good job.

    Broken Plug

A counter thread conical tap (screw extractor). Soak the broken plug in penetrant well before.

    Oil Pressure Gauge

Pressure gauge tells you about lurking problems. However, the problems never arise when you are riding nice. They arise when you are punishing the machine. Do you have time to look at the gauges then? I don't think it is relevant. Preemptive maintenance is the key.

Dirt bikes are awesome. I used to ride Kawasaki KX500s but now I'm too old, don't have the physique for that anymore. That means a Vmax is just perfect.

    Reasons to remove the clutch?

My two cents. Because the previous owner pulled the clutch then why did he do that in the first place? Clutch problems are not difficult to figure out. If the basket is still good, I'd get new friction discs and steelies and everything else needed after inspection of all parts. Then put it back...

    EFI conversion on a Gen-1

A Tee connector with that space would be very difficult to install without hurting the o-rings. You were thinking of prying it on with least possible shoulder? How do you secure it in place, how do you secure no leak situation? How do you connect between the two Tees? How do you import fuel, how...

    EFI conversion on a Gen-1

Would diesel commonrail tubes be out of the picture? After all, it would not be very practical to have a fuel delivery system that requires one to take off the intake manifolds in order to be removed. What is your fuel delivery pressure?

    Smaller radiator

I've always actually thought that the stock radiator with lower rated thermostat is a bit too much than what is needed. Texas summer averages over 100 degrees at worst for several months in a row and I never had any cooling issues. That is why I thought a smaller radiator with stock fans should...

    Smaller radiator

You have the same problem with stock radiator with a fender. That's why you have a radiator shield from factory.

    Smaller radiator

How about a Harley style tall and narrow cooler? I've been thinking about this too.
