    Tool kit

Thanks very much for the kind offer, to save any hassle I'll probably have the smaller spanners and I'll cut down some ringers, the 27,24 & 22 and flatten a piece of tube for leverage, just for the basic roadside stuff if needed, trip later in the year from Carrickfergus in N.Ireland up into the...

    Tool kit

Cheers for the reply guys, but the postage to the UK/ Northern Ireland would be around a third more than the cost of the kit! Lol!

Does anyone know if the speedo drives are the same for mph or kph? Or is the gearing/ ratios different? Cheers.

    Valve shims

Yes Fred, I would be worried about that, the heat from grinding could take the temper out of the pad, suppose it would depend how much of a cut you would take off each time!

    Valve shims

Can valve shims be ground to a certain size using a surface grinder?

92 Jap Import wont shut off

Hi Just reading through your posts, I have a 95 jap impot, it is speed restricted to 115mph in the speedo, also none of the european or canadian/us wiring diagrams seem to suit, mine also has the fuel res switch fitted below the main switch gear on the handlebar, there is only a hi/low headlamp...

    Stock Rear Shock Disassembly

My thoughts exactly, "If it's assembled, it can be disassembled"

    Stock Rear Shock Disassembly

P.S. The spring compressors are home made from "H" beam clamps that stud bar hangs from to hold pipework etc.

    Stock Rear Shock Disassembly

Here's my take on the same thing, I'm powder coating the springs black and have sprayed the damper body satin black, I'll post pics when done! I had posted some months ago asking if anyone knew if the standard shocks could be taken apart, and finally took the bull by the horns a few days ago.

    Stock Rear Shock Disassembly

Excellent guide mate, just noticed it after posting my own, your guide and pics is much better, guess we have the same objective?

    Rear shocks

Re: Rear shocks .........Disassembly Finally bit the bullit and decided to strip my standard Vmax shocks, the inside of the springs being a bit rusty so I removed them, sand blasted them and their off to be powder coated black. I've attached pics of the stripdown, the spring compressors were...

    charging voltage

This all started when my max would'nt start when warm a couple of times, I took the battery out and charged it overnight, disconected the charger next morn and left the battery untill I returned from work about 8-9hrs later. The battery voltage then was 12.4 (thought is should have been higher...

    Headlamp bypass

    Thanks for the help lads.

    Headlamp bypass

Will splicing into the low beam feed burn the switch contacts, or would you use the low beam feed to switch a relay with a fused live from the ignition/battery? I suppose switches are cheap enough and easier to do!

    Headlamp bypass

Is there any way I can easily bypass the headlamp so it is not on when starting the engine on my 95 jap import max, I think it's the same as the U.S. spec with the light on as soon as the key is switched, it may make for better warm starting, or does the lamp automaticly bypass when the starter...
