Hey guys...new to the forum...but i learnt a lot from you on my Vmax project.. Now i have an issue..i think of BRAKE UPGRADE... 6pot calipers.. On new EBC rotors 298mm stock size..FZR1000 SUMITOMO'S FIT THE MAX FORK??
And what about the disc?? Is it small or will do the work???
:worthy::clapping:

The mid 90's FZR 1000 ( I THINK 95-97) WILL fit. Its what I have on mine. The will fit the 93-07 Vmax without any adapters.

Yep, those rotors should work. I have the chinese wavy rotors (stock size), and work GREAT with the 6 pot calipers.

I've got a few sets on hand but won't likely be as cheap as ebay!

If you have a 1993 or newer bike with the stock 43 mm downtubes, the FZR1000/YZF750 Sumitomo three-pair opposed piston claipers will work. The have a 100 mm o.c. mounting pattern, and the stock 298 mm front brake rotors will work fine.

The last pic shows the Sumitomo 6-piston caliper next-to a 1985-1992 slider which has a shorter mounting on-center, so it will not bolt-up without an adapter bracket which would have to be fabricated.

The measuring tool is actually on-center in pic #2 for the mounting holes, but since we have binocular vision but the camera is only one lens, there is parallax-error in the pic.

Your stock master cyl. will work fine w/the 6 pot Sumitomos. May I suggest a 'reverse-bleed' method on your replacement calipers? It's quick, easy, and effective. Do a search here for the exact method & minimal equipment needed.

Hey Traumahawk, how r u doing?
Spring is coming,so i have the Sumitomos 6pot powder coated,cleaned, new seals and stuff..ready to bolt them on..tell me something... The 16mm bore m/cyl will send enough pressure or will i ne disappointed??
Have you ever considered to put a radial m/c instead?
Pikipikos... Waiting....

The stock VMax brake dia is 5/8"=15.875 mm or ~16 mm. They push enough fluid to work w/the 6-pot Sumitomos.

If you go w/another brake cyl, make sure it's 5/8" or as you said, 16 mm.

Things are going well. Ive used the 6 pots with the stock master cylinder for years, with no issues. Ive liked it. You will more lever travel, but Ive always liked it. That way instead of a rock hard lever, you can modulate how much brake that you want to use.
