Stainless will hold a finish a lot longer then other metals but it can discolor with grease and oils

I can chrome about anything but it's very expensive for chroming pipe work. I want to say in the $4-$5 per inch of tubing if I remember correctly.

so Sean for a complete system (headers) how much is the price. i am asking cause i am curious and i cannot do the math . i want to compare the price i am paying here in Greece with the price in U.S

I assume black chrome would last like regular chrome and that you would be able to do Mark's exhaust with it?
Cannot wait to see it George, win the lottery or inherit a large sum of money soon!:biglaugh:

I would need to measure each pipe. I know the larger pipe after the collector is a bit higher too.

Headers are ready i am not going to chrome them cause i am afraid of the chrome will flake and marks system is thin in the pipes and rechroming them when the chrome flake will make it even thinner. mirro polish remains. i think i will have an issue with the middle pipe cause it has a big angle and ihtin when the engine is fitted it will need cutting ,welding and rechroming (my middle pipe and exhaust cans are chromed) with an straight end not curved cause when i install all the system it has a big angle and i dont think it will clear the tail. more ergal bolts installed

I like how you have taken care to get all the details matching, you have put a lot of work and dedication (nothing to say of the money spent!) into your sweet Vmax! Excellent work George!

there are some show i want to attend too. i hope my bike will go well. i am trying to finish as fast as i can. i want to see my engine working after the rebuild and i want these pipes to breath

thank you all for the good words.

Looks great george. Chroming doesn't make things thinner....In fact it's just the opposite, if makes them thicker. But chrome is very thin, so it won't be very much thicker. We use to use Chrome to repair our plastic injection molds that had been damaged, and most of the time it had to be dipped many many times until it was thick enough

Yes you are right. Chrome makes the metal a little thicker. But when you prepare the metal for chroming and if you want to rechrome a metal all the preparation make it thinner.
