    Complete set of engine parts

Hey guys, I have a complete (but mostly disassembled) VMax engine. All of it is for sale. I bought it for a dune buggy build, but I ended up going with a different engine. It's not exactly pristine condition, but most of the parts could still be useful. Somewhere in its life it got some...

Low speed / idle engine miss

Need some good advice. And I KNOW this is the place to get it. Very knowledgeable and helpful folks here! '89 V-Max (my 3rd one), 24K miles, all stock as far as I can tell. Had been sitting a year w/o starting, and only 250 miles in last 3 years. New battery. Drained fuel tank and carbs...

Engine cuts out on full lock.

I have found that when steering 'left' on full lock, my engine will cut out. This is obviously always at a very slow speed and in 1st gear, when either turning into my driveway or making a 'U-turn'. I haven't noticed a problem on right lock. I am assuming it would indicate that it maybe...

Engine Protection - Frame Sliders Proven!

I sold a Yamaha FJ 1200 to a friend a couple years ago. I installed some frame sliders just because I wanted a little more protection in case I went down. Well, this morning he rode to work and I noticed the right side was scuffed up. He dropped it. Seems the slider took the brunt of the fall...

    Vmax 1200 - Engine temperature

Hi guys, few days ago my vmax '97 started to heat up more quickly and during the ride temp arrow went between 1/2 and red zone. It was around 12deg C (50F) outside and I could feel the heat from the engine. Before, it was around 1/3 position when I am on open road (even if it is 35deg C...

    Electrical burning smell, engine dies

The good news is I already was half-way over the Brooklyn Bridge, so I didn't have to push the VMax too far, as most of the trek was downhill. Nice 80 degree day, around 50mph at 3000rpm in 3rd, fan override switch on, temp halfway up the gauge. I smell something similar to plastic burning...

    bad noises from crank case

2000, stock, 35k miles, So here's what happened..... bike ran fine Friday on the way to work. rolling the engine over

How easy is it to roll it over by hand? (socket and ratchet) Took it out on the hwy to see how it was running after doing carb work/shotgun. I heard a loud noise ( metal that's broken kind of sound) about 1 mile down the hwy coming from the left front side (going 75 + mph so it had to be loud)...
