idle

Not all the time but mostly in traffic the carbs act like they're loading up but when I pop the throttle it does not clear it up. Once you're moving again it runs fine. It doesn't do it at all when the engine is cold. 2000 model, bought used. I think the jets are stock. Suggestions?

Mark, When I checked the settings for the mixture screws I noticed that they all had about 1/2 a turn. These settings were where I set them when doing the ear tuning. My question is what would cause them to tune correctly at 1/2 a turn vice the normal 2-2.5 turns. I get a fuel smell in general...

Hi, I have a problem with my idle. I have cleaned the idle jets per the instuctions on this forim. After I clean them idle is great for about 60 miles then it starts to miss and pop out of the carb. I have cleaned them 3 times, not sure what else to look for. Any Ideas?? Thanks 1986 Vmax

when I start my bike I need to hold the throtle open some to get it to start.some times you need to rev it a couple time before it will idle by itself.is this tipical for a vmax?it even dose the same thing with the choke on.dose anyone have some input on this :hmmm:

Are there TWO screws for idle adjustment or just one. I'm getting a little hesitation when blipping the throttle from idle. Sometimes a little air pop sound from the left side. I think just raising the idle a smidge may help. It's already at 1000 rpm...but a C--t hair up shouldn't really be that...

I was cleaning the carbs on my '85 Max the other day, and noticed 2 of the idle mixture screws were missing the "O" ring that goes onto the idle mixture screw "stack". Yamaha does not sell this "O" ring separately. does anyone know where I can get an "O" ring that will fit?
