    Vacuum Leak?

Hi all, My bike has been running rough no matter what I do. When I try to tune the carbs, even with the restrictors, the indicators are really bouncy. Guy at a local shop listened to it and is pretty sure theres a vacuum leak. Thought I'd start by replacing the carb boots. Can anyone...

    vacuum sync?

Hey Vmax Pros, I bought this 86 vmax a few months ago and have been working the kinks out of it ever since. When I got it, it had horrible gas mileage--like 18 mi/gallon. I did a shotgun carb clean and brought it up to 32 mpg at one point, but it was misfiring a bit, so I did a vaccum...

    backfire issue

Hi, I own a 98 vmax and I"m having some backfire issues. When coldstart with choke on it backfires untill choke is off, then it runs ok. When warm it only backfires on decelleration. What could be the problem? I synced the carbs with carb pro. What could be the issue, a/f mix or vacuum leak (I...

So started to perform shotgun and found one of my air fuel mixture screws is stuck and I screwed up the head so the screw driver will no longer grab, lesson to be learned make sure the screw driver is a perfect fit before starting. I performed shotgun on the other three carbs and hoped for the...

    Carb syncing with vacuum gauges

Quik question. I feel the carbs need to be synced on the 95 I just bought. Would anyone know why I couldn't use the "old fashioned" vacuum gauges instead of the Merc or Protune? Thanks:ummm:

    Vacuum hose missing?

I bought an 85 Max about a month ago & have only had a couple of days to work on it so far. I did notice last night when I was changing out the plugs that there seemed to be a vacuum hose missing. I say this because when I removed the spark plug from the back cylinder on the left side of the...

    Mysterious vacuum leak

I did the old hot rodders trick of spraying carb cleaner on a running motor to listen for idle changes, nothing happened up around the carbs or rubber boots but when I sprayed underneath the vboost manifold (in the actual v of the engine)instantly the rpms dropped and the engine almost died.What...

    Vacuum pump to much?

I used a hvac vacuum pump to pull brake fluid through my clutch system. I primed a close to dry system in a few minutes. But now my slave is leaking. Did I fry the seals in the slave pulling to much vacuum? I found the system almost dry with the master locked up. Guess it must have...

    Vacuum Line Question

Anyone know what the vacuum line on the #1 Carb is for? #2,3, and #4 carbs have the plugs on them and theses are the spots that you hook up your vacuum gauges. I want to know if the #1 vacuum line is needed because I want to inject a hydrogen, oxygen mixture into these ports. Thanks!

    vacuum throttle bodies

Just wondering? I've seen most discussion here on EFI about changing to GSXR fuel injection setup on the Vmax. What if any is the difference an/or pros and cons between say YZF R6 vacuum diaphragm throttle bodies? and the GSXR type? seems to me it might be good to stay with the same manufacture...

    Crap in the vacuum chamber

Hey Guys I am in the middle of a carb job and ran across this compacted powdery stuff on the bottom of the vacuum chamber. I was wondering if anyone might have any ideas of what it might be. I want to correct the problem before I put it back together so it wont happen again. Thanks in...

    Vacuum port rubber caps

I could have said "Rubber nipples, where?" to get more readers, but I resisted..... When you remove the chrome side covers to get to the vacuum synch ports, the tubes have little rubber caps and clamps on them. I've been using AutoZone rubber caps but they wear out in a month and leak. What...

this a good way to find vacuum leak?

well, not a good way to FIND it, but I was reading on another forum that if you cover the throat of the carb and she dies.... no leak. if it continues to run - you've got a leak. makes sense and saves me at least a little trouble spraying my bike with flammables. I hear soap works too...
