Check out the trunk that I installed on my 1993 V-Max. Note that I built the support rack, out of conduit and 3/16 aluminum plate, due to not being able to find a rack, that was big enough, to support the trunk.

Some bikes were made for this look and some weren't. This one falls into the weren't category for me lol. But, looks like it should do what you're wanting it to do.
 
Putting any kind-of weight in that top case will probably negatively alter your handling because of the weight, because of the placement of that weight, so-far from the middle of the bike, so-high up; and susceptibility to crosswinds. It looks like things are lashed-up tight. Did you add to the gas capacity?
