This is as serious as it gets. I fear there is going to be a Bill pushed through soon.It will effect everyone eventually. Never underestimate the left to capitalize on disasters to further political agendas. They don't really care about the people. They care about getting elected. And they step over each dead body without a care for anything else! No new law will prevent the next incident. Now, watching the stereo type whacho, with all the signs and behaviors leading up to their actions would be a concept. How many people knew the lady in Newtown had weapons and a crazy son in the house? The latest has all kind of weird behavior patterns. Time for people to come forward before the next incident. Not show boat on the media, after. Many harmless looking weapons can be turned fully auto.To signal out one in particular proves they really don't want to stop the killings. They just want to grandstand with the look what I did sign. Elizabeth Warren,the senator from Massachusetts, cares about one thing. Becoming Hillary's VP. God save us.

Thanks, but not a definitive answer. I will do some digging into the constitution of the organization to see if I can find the answer.
The reason I ask - if fully automatic weapons are readily available on the black market, to the criminal element, doesn't it make sense that John Q. Public should legally be able to have them as well, to "level the playing field"?
Am I wrong in thinking that part of the Second Amendment was written to insure protection of self and family?
How is this possible, when faced with perps carrying f.a. weapons?

John Q public can own fully automatic weapons. You get a more intensive background check, pay the extra NFA tax, $200 per year I think, and it's all yours. Same with silencers in states that allow them.

Unless something has changed it is a one-time $200 fee, not annual. This is why trusts are commonly used for NFA items so multiple people can legally possess them.

We should get used to open season on constitutional rights, it's not going to end anytime soon. That being said I damn sure wont be handing mine over, fuck that!

No matter what happens once we had over the firepower we have no leg to stand on, its all over at that point. Crazy people can shoot up public places with no fear of return fire and law abiding citizens will be at the mercy of criminals and gov to do as they please with us. That is still too complex for some liberal thinkers to understand. Tragedies like Orlando will be more common and body counts higher.

I haven't heard that mention once. I did find out something new today that the assault weapon ban that was the law for some ten years was allowed to expire by a Democratic congress under Obama. That information I heard from a retired GOP Senator from S.Dakota. Go figure. As Steve said in a previous post no new laws are going to prevent another mass shooting(opinion). But we know that no new laws have been passed and that hasn't stopped mass shooting either (Fact).

I'm a semi professional weapons tester. Because of the clearance i had in the military i'm on an overseas no fly list. Even when i have authorization i get stopped and checked. I shoot for Agencies and the Military. It would be ridiculous to ban me.

The Clinton assault weapon ban limited all of our rights to properly set up an assault weapon. It was a bad joke that finally went away......

How it works

After the prospective buyer completes and signs a Firearms Transaction Record (ATF Form 4473),[4] the FFL contacts the NICS by telephone or Internet.[5] When the background check is initiated three databases are accessed: the National Crime Information Center (NCIC), the Interstate Identification Index (III), and the NICS Index.[6] According to the FBI, checks are usually determined within minutes of initiation. If there is no match in any of the checked databases, the dealer is cleared to proceed with the transfer. Otherwise, the FBI's NCIS Section must contact the appropriate judicial and/or law enforcement agencies for more information. Per the Brady Act, the FBI has three business days to make its decision to approve or deny the transfer. If the FFL has not received the decision within that time it may legally proceed anyway.[6]


Firearm denial appeals

A buyer who believes that a NICS denial is erroneous may appeal the decision by either challenging the accuracy of the record used in the evaluation of the denial or claiming that the record used as basis for the denial is invalid or does not pertain to the buyer.[12] The provisions for appeals are outlined in the NICS Regulations at Title 28, Code of Federal Regulations, Part 25.10, and Subsection 103 (f) and (g) and Section 104 of the Brady Handgun Violence Prevention Act of 1993.
In January 2016, USA Today reported that the FBI had stopped processing NICS denial appeals in October 2015, leaving a backlog of approximately 7,100 appeals as of January 20.[13] The National Rifle Association said that the failure to review the appeals was a "gross disregard for those illegitimately denied their Second Amendment rights".[10]
According to the National Rifle Association, false positives in the NICS system deny citizens' Second Amendment rights.[10] According to the FBI, in 2014, of a total of 90,895 "deny transactions", 4,411 (about 5%) were overturned after further research by the NICS section.[11] The NRA says that "there is significant reason to believe that the number of erroneous denials is far greater than those overturned on appeal" because some people may not appeal erroneous denials.[10]


There are several reasons for erroneous denials....typo error on the SS number, same name conflict, etc. to name a couple. But those folks won't get the benefit of an appeal (a clear violation of their constitutional rights) cuz the FEEBS decided they aren't going to process any more denials appeals.

Legislation wont put this shit back in the dog. No law is going to stop the bad guys from doing this. Thats a fact. There are to many guns out there to stop it now. Even if we could snap our fingers and make all the guns disappear dont you what would happen? I would rather the bad guys are able to get guns than resort to the other obvious ways of inflicting mass casualties.

I'm not sure how liberals are so unable to grasp this basic concept. The guns are out there. Any anti-gun legislation would be largely unenforceable and counterproductive. Its not even worth talking about but it keeps coming up like there is any possible way it could work. Like banned drugs that are epidemic, guns can be manufactured to, so cant ammo.

We need idiot control and to deal with the extremist issues that face us if we want the tragedies to stop. Wasting time with this gun control push is spinning our tires.
