What is the widest tire that can be mounted to stock rear rim?

I would think a 210 would fit? You can alter the wheel (or find one the factory used to sell) and get a 240 in there.

The 210 will fit, but it's not a real good choice. It is a bear to mount on a VMax rim because of the extremely short sidewall. I've also been told the handling suffers quite a bit because of the profile of the tire when it is mounted. The only advantage would be is that the gearing is slightly improved so it should conceivably improve acceleration a small amount......but better gearing is of no help if you don't have traction, and I don't think it's real sticky.

If you want better traction than OEM, then IMO the Shinko Verge 011 is the best choice.

If you just want the look of the wider tire, then upgrading to a 240 wheel when they are available from Sean is the way to go. The Yamaha 240 wheel is no longer offered and used ones are VERY difficult to find.
