adjusting throttle cables

Hello,
Can anybody describe how to adjust the throttle cables. If I put them as the service manuel dictates (assuming I'm interpreting the book correctly), the is no throttle return. If I adjust the cables so the throttle returns, the cable slides are out of their prescribe marks. Also, does anybody know how to adjust and synchronize the vboost?

I don't follow the manual at all....doesn't work IMO. I tighten the cable at the carb all the way. Then, with air box off make sure butterflies open all the way when you turn the throttle. Then, adjust the slack at the adjuster near the throttle grip.
