Mt. Sterling, Kentucky. 1st time Vmax owner, always been my dream bike and never was able to shell out the cash until this past fall. I heard this was the place to be for anything vmax. Looking forward to some good info and good dudes to ride with. Come on spring!View attachment 75069View attachment 75070
Yes, a well cared-for bike, that!

Hey guys! Names Eric I’m new to the vmax world, from south of Ann Arbor Michigan. I’m 30 but I’ve wanted a vmax since I was a kid. I’m sure most of you don’t like me because of my dumbass questions already but I try my best. Here’s my bike 6,200 miles! A real beauty!!

that's a beauty, apart from the screen (I don't like screens), the screen mounts look like they came from a swimming pool exit ladder ;)

Where do all you guys get those tiny vmax windshields? I’m sure they don’t do much against the wind, but they do look cool!

Hey all, new to the forum. Had no idea this was a thing. Glad that it is. I currently have a 2019 all Black Max. Previously I had a 2012 and a 1985. I love my VMax's & would still have my Gen1 in not for my ex! Long story. Anyway glad to be here.

Looks like a '92?

Add your city below your screen name, so people know where you are.

Low miles for a 29 y.o. bike. Looks to be in good cosmetic condition. How's it run? The VBoost works?

Good day everyone,

New here and like the layout of the land. I have been reading and gathering valuable information for my Maxes. Bought my gen 2 in February it's just now coming up on it's 600 mile service. I have been looking at Vmaxes for years and finally decided to pull the trigger on a new one.

I still kept looking in cycle trader for a gen 1 because I wanted the original Max to compare and learn from. And, viola' I found a nicely taken care of 2005 Red with ghost flames, fairly low mileage thank goodness. I am having a blast switching back and fourth from the gen 1 to the gen 2 for comparisons sake.

Very happy to be here and hope to make a few new friends with like interests in the Max and learn as much as possible through the knowledge of the members here. Anyway thanks for having me!

Carl

Hello all,
I purchased a pretty rough 1991 VMAX today for a back and forth to work cruiser to keep miles off of my truck. I've been wanting a V4 bike for a while and couldn't really find the correct one. I found this VMAX semi locally. Mechanically she runs fine but needs a lot of love. Needs front and rear turn signals (broken but work), headlight bulb needs replaced, a lot of the aluminum is anodized and has corrosion on it, (thinking about sandblasting all of the pieces I can pull off and getting some black inlays for them). She of course needs a really good once over and a full service. I'm pretty excited about the old girl, she has over 46,000 miles. Question, is there anything I need to check or have done for the mileage, cam chain tensioners, valves, ect? Also, she has a slight water leak that I think is coming from the elbow on the right side, bottom front of the bike, but that's just my initial inspection, it could be coming from somewhere a little higher.IMG_20210321_080511.jpgIMG_20210321_080457.jpgIMG_20210321_080307.jpg

You get that thing going man and up keep it you'll have a awesome bike to cruise around on. Be safe not sure if you've ever riden one but they have some power if your not used to it it will make your ass pucker.

Re sandblasting.

If you are blasting aluminum surfaces, the abrasive media most often used is glass beads, sodium bicarbonate, or walnut shells. Steel shot or steel grit should be avoided.

The scoops have a tendency to corrode. With mine, not as bad as yours I used various grades of wet n dry paper and finished by polishing on a mop.

Alternative is to paint them, commonly the top or lower half was painted.
