Seems like there are more bikes for sale on here (mine included) than there has been in the past, sign of el presidente Zero's wonderful leadership or something else?

Objectively I'm gonna
Have to say there are more factors than just the person inthe desk in the Oval Office

Subjectively , I'm saying the Socialist in the White House has cost this country more jobs and more debt than any other president in the history of the USA. Shit trickles down hill .

It's begun to get cold, people always sell boats and bikes when the weather changes. This isn't a good time to sell either.

The form of Government we have right now will continue to destroy jobs until the middle class is gone...:bang head::sad2::sad2::sad2:

+1! Our jobs are all in China, he gives more and more of them away each day. And spends money that is not being made at a record pace. I try my best to buy things that say "Made in the USA", but as we all know, that's sometimes impossible. Cast your vote for the next crook come election time. No job=no money=no toys.....must sell bike.

It is not just Obama, it is all Politicians. Clinton and Gore started it with Nafta.

Perot stood in it's way and the people did not elect him, put Clinton in.

Blame the people too.

It is all very simple, set up free trade with no or little tariff. The Gov. say we will trade with another country with no hindrance, instead of trading with that country Corporate America closes shop here, goes to another country with few if any regulations and almost slave labor rates, actually cheaper than having slaves, sets up a plant, dramatically cuts cost and ships back to the US at the same or increased prices, while American workers have no job and stand to lose it all, house, family, dignity. Politicians are in the pocket of Corporate America and say nothing, do nothing, because they have no ballz and care not for the citizen, just themselves. This is repeated in every industry, every day.

In my industry we use alot of Data cable, we now see that cable being made in Vietnam, (Honeywell) and the American manufacturers will soon be unable to compete because of the 25% price difference. I always buy American when I have the choice no matter of cost, we use all Hitachi cable made in Manchester Mass., pay more but of great quality, but unless something changes in a few years there will be none made in the US, and more unemployed in another industry.

It is time to stand up against our politicians, because they care not for you, your kids, your family or what is best for this country. It is time for action, pussy's step aside.

Oh BTW, one indication of how they, the Gov. really feel about you,,,they have been burying the ashes of our fallen soldiers in a garbage landfill, a fact which you can easily google,,,tell me it ain't time.:damn angry:

O

This is a sad thing for sure. The economy is forcing people to sell not only their bikes but boats atv's and everything else that is expendable. At the same time it is not either a buyers or sellers market. It is one of those markets that has no meaning and doesnt make sense. I do not have the right words to explain what Im trying to say other than the market is F#@KED UP right now.

As far as I'm concerned the States are paying for all those years of complete nonsense with the Bush mafia in power.

It don't matter who's in now - any scapegoat will do - the damage was done a long time ago and it'll take a lot of time and tears and sweat by everyone to recover.

But eh what do I care, I escaped to Australia! :)

Uh oh, this thread is rapidly sliding down the shit-covered slopes of politics....

This time of year there's always a lot of bikes for sale. For the northern states, the season is winding down/over(I got a nice 90 mile ride in today, but it was probably my last), and people who want a new bike always "finish out the season" before going shopping hoping to score deals in the off-season. People are too impatient to sit on it until the spring when prices rebound, they want that down payment cash now and get hosed on their selling price.

I try my best to buy things that say "Made in the USA", but as we all know, that's sometimes impossible.

As an outsider, I have to say Americans make it damn hard to buy stuff from them.
I just thought most Americans didn't want to deal with overseas buyers!
e-bay is an obvious example. Look at this screen http://www.ebay.com/itm/Yamaha-V-Ma...2299&pt=Motorcycles_Parts_Accessories&vxp=mtr
Shipping is $432.63. Why even bother? Who's going to pay that?

Or some Supertrapp slip ons http://www.ebay.com/itm/SUPERTRAPP-...9521&pt=Motorcycles_Parts_Accessories&vxp=mtr
Shipping is $250!

In contrast, http://www.ebay.com/itm/SUPERTRAPP-...2374&pt=Motorcycles_Parts_Accessories&vxp=mtr
Shipping is $68.00... for exactly the same slip-ons!

America is not doing a very good job at promoting itself to world markets, and this isn't coming from your leaders, it's coming from the people of America!
Hell, I don't think Obama even has motorbike....:rofl_200:

I've spent a lot of time online finding v-max parts because they are almost non-existant in Australia, and golly, you guys make it hard to give you money sometimes! Chinese will take my money, no problem!

If this muffler costs $179.40 for shipping to Australia, http://www.ebay.com/itm/93-07-V-MAX...0530&pt=Motorcycles_Parts_Accessories&vxp=mtr why couldn't I get this exhaust shipped at a reasonable price? --> http://www.vmaxforum.net/showthread.php?t=20770

I know in my heart, that all the people who tried to help me with this sale are good people, and did the best they could.
I don't blame anyone. Shit happens! :biglaugh:
And I owe you guys for trying.
What makes it hard is that I KNOW that there is a way to get it to me for less than $1000, but I'm damned if I can make it happen.

Theres something wrong with the American system.
If it's so damn hard to get something from America, it can't be helping your economy!

I also want to say that not all American sellers are like that, and I don't mean to offend anyone. Everone is different, and I think lot's of forum members here are fantastic! :eusa_dance:
What might ruffle a few feathers is if you guys knew that I can order a full system off Planet V-max and have is shipped for free. Heres somebody with a "unusual" reputation for customer service, hitting the nail fair square on the head for overseas buyers! It doesn't matter where the hell you live, this exhaust costs $849- delivered! http://www.ebay.com/itm/ULTIMATE-Ya...2291&pt=Motorcycles_Parts_Accessories&vxp=mtr
It's a pity I don't want that stupid exhaust. :bang head:

That's a specific issue related to shipping. Goodies shipped using USPS are always pricey.
Some eBay sellers only want shipping with tracking and insurance, so their option are more limited. I understand them somehow. Same applies to stuff shipped from EU.

It's specially true when you try to get heavy or big parts shipped like exhaust, wheel, etc.
It's never cheap. Usually I pay 30% of the value for shipping + an extra 10 to 20% for the customs (depending on the negotiation).

So I know your feeling, I'm living in the Philippines and I encounter the same issue.

For Supertrapp exhaust, you better talk to Sean. He got good pricing and won't kill you with the shipping fees although don't expect it to be low.

Still, comparing prices, I'm happier buying my Max from the US than here in Oz, even with shipping/registering/customs I still get a better bike for my dollar!

Guess it helps having lived and made great friends in FL :)

Yes! When I looked at replacing Veronica, any condition '85 would be $10k in the Australian dealerships!

Check this out!! http://www.justauto.com.au/justbike...a6d54e99c300?&current_page=5&item_position=70

Didn't someone buy one of these in the US for $500 recently? :rofl_200:

No, that's not the case. There is a standard muffler shipped for $179, and that includes tracking. That's a pretty good price. I'd be happy with that. Of course, I don't want to buy THAT muffler.

What I'm saying is that $432.63 shipping for a plastic screen seems more than just a little bit like taking the piss. More often than not, that is the feeling I get when looking at US shipping prices. It just doesn't make sense.

The comparison with the Supertrapps is just an example that I quickly found. $68 v $250! I don't want Supertrapps, and I know Sean is good. It's not the point I'm trying to make.

Also, sellers don't seem to realise that when they charge $45 shipping, if it turns up on your door with a USPS sticker that says that they paid $16, it looks bad! That has happened to me, and when I emailed, they refunded the money. The bad taste remains, and makes me think I have to check everything that comes from America.

I personally have done OK from buying from the US. But it's usually not easy.

It is my observation that it feels like many American companies are not interested in doing business. If they did they would not quote $432.63 to ship a screen!
That's the point I am trying to make. That is all! And it hasn't stopped me. But I'm different! :biglaugh:

....and there it is.......the game you people play called politics......a revolving door of the same old lies/corruption no matter who gets elected.......Sad that people actually believe "the next guy"......."my guy".......will be different/better......

Sorry. Rant over.

The shipping issue takes place everyday. Some sellers on ebay will intentionally attempt to take advantage of a person by charging over inflated "shipping and handling" charges. Obviously, these are the guys to stay away from! As stated above, the best thing to do when you live far away, is to buy from a reputable guy like Sean and know that you won't be hosed.

Exactly. It will always be this way because it takes huge amounts of money to get elected to public office. The politican's become puppets to those that have filled their campaign war chests! Our Constitutional forefathers are rolling in their graves.

I agree, and have aired my gripe now. :biglaugh:

Still I can't believe that someone over there bought a bike for $500, and there is a similar one advertised here for $15 000.

Pffft. It is going to take something serious to make America feel the pinch!

Any shipping to overseas locations from the USA should be run past CaptainKyle right here on the forum. He's one of the
most honest and upstandingly good people I know. He borderlines on screwing himself at times to take care of others.
