Tested battery all good but when hot its like the battery is flat. When the bike cools down fires up first time. it runs good until hot. Help
bike starts everytime cold but wont start when hot.

Common issue for 85-89 models with the early starter design. It can happen to the 90-07's as well. You may be able to clean the brushes and contacts on the starter or just get a 90-07 version.

Sean, do you find no merit in the heavy duty cable mod and crimp fix in relation to the hot start issue ?

It would help if you included at least the year of your bike in your profile.
First step will be to ensure all of the earth points are clean
You can identify which starter you have ; SM-13 = 4-brush starter; 93-94 on SM-229C = 2-brush starter.
The field coils in the 2 brush starter are attached by 2 cross head bolts which are visible on the outside of the centre section of the motor. The 4 brush motor has no visible cross head bolts.
When the starter is out give it a health check and do the mod described in the attachment.

just bought the Ricks starter motor. should get it in NZ in a couple of weeks Hope that solves it.
