Hello,I trie to replace the body of my carbs because I ´ve damage 2 threads (one in one of the flange chamber cober and the other in one of the side brackets).
I have the stage 7 on it,and as you know it has "main air correctors"(picture 1),and I think,it is no possible to removed from my "old carbs";the new carbs (picture 2),looks like do not have "air restrictions"...What do you think about it? could I still make the change?

Thank you very much for your coments.

Hello, first of all thank you for the coments,..yeah..about helicoil,I was thinking about,it will work for the cober, but the one of the bracket is broken(the hole´s thread).I will probably order the parts to Sean Morley...
I think all the carbs are the same, isn´t it?
Any recomendations for this replacement?I will start with a deep cleaning of the body, and the replacement of the seals,orings,...any parts that "it´s a must" to be replaced?
Thank´s againg for your recomendations.

Dannymax is another member who specializes in the carburetors. If you want to use the search function you can find answers to almost any VMax carburetor question you have, as someone, somewhere has probably had Dannymax's help w/it.

I don't believe the german silver/potmetal material of the carburetors is weldable. Try it and it just gets soft, and collapses. However using JB Weld seems like a perfect solution. Just mix enough to cover the area where the piece is missing, don't worry about trying to preserve a tapped hole. After it dries, then drill & tap the hole you need. I'm sure you've seen the commercials for the material which uses a ultraviolet light to-set, this might be a good time to try some of that. Again, just glop it in-there, and afterwards drill/tap the hole. I was thinking that plasticine clay would be a good moldable material to use to form a pocket into-which you would pour the JB Weld for it to harden, then use a Dremel tool to shape it, those little sanding drums on the mandrel which has a rubber drum held-on by a screw, and the sanding drum slides-over it.

Most of the time I re-use the rubber gaskets & etc., the jet block gasket is one I often replace, as they seem to tear-apart when trying to remove the jet block casting, which is no-longer available from Yamaha. Same problem w/the enrichener body, not-available, though the brass piston ass'y. in it, is.

I would definitely give the tap and die route a go before I replaced it all. The carbs are all made in sets and set up that way. Mixing and matching can be a headache at least, an exercise in futility at most.

If you're not that well versed in tap and die, you can take it to a machine shop and ask them to do it for you. It shouldn't be a problem for them.

Hello, thank you very much for your replays, very helpfull...
Sorry if I do not explaim myself clear enought, but what I trie is to replace all 4 carb bodys, and replacing jet´s and needles with the ones I have,...but what I think is that there are some "internal meassues diference" between carb´s(not all the carb bodys are the same apparently)...so,most probably I will go for the JB weld repair option and I will check out Dannymax comments arround...

Once again thank you for your help...

..no vmax´s specialist around....the bike arrived late here in Europe..and "restricted to 100cv"..I was living in USA for a while and I brought it down here..so now "is asking for some maintenance" after alll, and I been having problems to get a workshop with "people with knowledge" in analogic bikes...
This Forun was a BIG BIG surprise to me to find out...because here the people speek " my lenguage" about VMAX´s...

Have you ever worked on constant-velocity carbs? Dannymax is certainly one forum member to-whom you could turn, along-with Sean Morley and CaptainKyle. With some guidance you could do your own carburetors. Here's someone you can get videos from to help with your bike:
[email protected]

He has a carb video you can order off ebay, email him.
