Gonna cut the small bracket off and then set it right, and spot it on, fit it and then final-weld it I suppose.

Yeah kinda pissed that my bolts ons aren't bolt ons, if i wanted welded up shit i would have kept my Cherokee XJ lol

Im quite happy with how they look but as you can see there's a small fitment issue. I'm going to see if my fabricator can ovalate/oblong the bolt holes to get the pieces to adjust and line up

I suggest you put those up for sale, and buy an OEM set, you should be able to find a good set reasonably. Something about that bracket being out of alignment, that tubing just doesn't look right.

I had no idea there was an OEM version, newbie. Lol. My friend can plasma cut the existing lower bolt holes so they adjust enough to line up the top bracket. This is a dry fitment for pics of before and after. More to follow.

elongate the lower holes and fit large stainless washers or plate (or painted ones) to cover any gaps

return them.

hope you didn't pay much for them $20 max, as the welding looks pretty shoddy*, not to mention the fitting.

I wouldn't try elongating the holes, just chop off the bracket, remake it and weld it back on.

* having said that, the welding by Yamaha on the frame isn't hugely better.

can you still buy genuine Yamaha items ?
mine were rusty when I bought the bike so I made my own in stainless steel that can also be footrests

Exactrep sells a set of engine guards that are twins for the factory originals. I just sold a set a couple weeks ago. Nice well finished product.

Or we have OEM guards with and without our peg conversion.

just throwing out a “Thumbs Up”on the Muscle engine guards in the textured finish. When I powdercoated, I tried to steer people toward the ”Crinkle” finish because nothing gloss or chrome will stay nice because you always have grit or gravel on your boots/shoes. Plus, how many times I had something slick (oil or whatever) on the bottom of footwear and slip off the caseguard! Even rain makes it slick with with some shoes. Texture always stats looking the same and gives that needed gription! Plus, it is great on a set that was media blasted and shows light pitting. Textured eliminates that issue.

The Delkevic brand are stainless steel comes with hardware and are a perfect fit. Just a little pricy at $168 from amazon. I bought the less expensive ones from ebay and had the same issue, sent them back.

Brackets increase air resistance, you will never go faster than 190 MPH... ;)
