Case hole wear

I was replacing a starter clutch and noticed the left side case has some oblong wear from the starter dowel pin holes. Anyone done any case repairs? How did you do them? Looks like a job weld repair to me.

Pictures? The cases can be welded but they can distort and warp plus the welds are difficult to be cleanly done.
