Changed Stater and Now Weird Noise on Start Up

So i was having a charging problem this weekend and it ended up being the stater, so i replaced it , and it fixed my charging problem.
The problem i am having now is the noise it make when starting.
I have since replaced the starter and removed the engine case and double checked the starting gears, and everything looks good, put the noise is still there.
Any help is much appreciated.

Did you re-assemble with a gasket?
Failure to do do can allow the starter gears to rub the casing.

Agreed.. ask me how I know. Cost me a new battery I didn't need but "thought" I did.... slow cranking due to what MaxMidnight said.

MaxMidnight , that is exactly what it was, no gasket and the gasket maker made the tolerances to small.
