Chinese Tach / Speedo / Shift Light $42

What do y'all think about this? I know generally you get what you pay for.
This unit has everything in a nice heads-up package, how our first gen V-Max should have been designed (in my opinion).

Maybe a pain to install and set up, but it looks very practical. Even a gear indicator!

Seems no one can get the rpm's to work.
The harness looks serious though.

Appears to be a knock-off of a Koso. What's the issue w/the tach, the sensing circuitry won't 'read' the VMax impulses? I read the two customer complaints. I think the Venture gear indicator sending unit can be used w/the VMax, I seem to recall some thread about it.

I've downloaded the instruction sheet. I don't see any reference to setting the shift light points - mostly clock, odometer and units settings.

Also no mounting hardware in the pictures unless it is the two spacers and two E-clips in the kit.

There looks to be three plastic post mounting points on the back.
