Circle in faux tank

I have an extra fae/faux tank cover with a circle cut into it.Anybody know why someone would have this done?

Clearly this was done so the extreme Vmax guy can do his own sniff test to ensure peak tune and get a facial hair removal when she burps a backfire through the carbs. This is especially fun with a full face helmet! Mod Monkey made him do it!
