Conventional gas tank?

Im pondering modifying or building a conventional tank the space left from original will be spaghetti exhaust artwork.
 
I've posted this in the past but due to the carbs/airbox/filter protruding upwards, the amount of fuel the tank can hold will be very small.

Looks to me like the original under seat tank is still present and the 'conventional tank' is for styling only.

I know looks are everything to some people but I can't imagine riding a bike with no rear fender. Water, tar, road crap... all up my back.
