How mush coolant comes out ,when you take the plates off the clylinder , and pull the little rubber plugs , can you get away without draining them
 
Hard to give a quantity. Not a lot but, not an insignificant amount. As long as you are replacing the coolant with a compatible type, you will be fine.

When I do a coolant flush, I pull the plugs. Each one only takes a minute. After draining, I fill the bike with distilled water and start it up. Leave red cap off and run till fan kicks in. Drain it out. Repeat till everything looks clean. Add coolant of choice. Run with red cap off to bleed the system
 
Agree with Mike. I use Toyota Factory Red coolant. Replace it once, good for 100,000+ miles after that. Still looks good after several years.
