I've searched but did not find out how to test the COPs before installation to verify they are working properly. Anyone know how to do this? Thanks....

Only two things I can think of..

1. measure its resistance, should be about 3Ω

2. plug it up, put a spark plug in it, hold the plug on an earthed part, crank the motor. Got a nice strong blue spark? It works! ;-)

My 2003-2004 R1 Mitsubishi COPs are at my storage unit so I just tested the 2007-2009 Honda CBR600RR Denso's I have and they all tested out at 2.3 ohms each. (Tested between the two pins in the top connector). All the values for COPs I found in the various threads were around 1.8 ohms. The value for stock coils was about 3 ohms. Wonder why my COPs are 2.3 when everyone else got 1.8? Hope it isn't my cheap Harbor Freight meter!!
