As part of the process to replace the battery I cleaned up the coil bracket and coils.

Doing this I noticed hairline cracks in the plastic covers on both coils, I think the cracks are located on the underside. The plastic is intact.

I am not overly worried as there is no indication of any ignition problem and am guessing that this is a common occurrence .... or is it?

All advice appreciated.

I filled the cracks with some JB weld just because I can although I'm sure it's not going to make any difference.

Interestingly the cracks are virtually the same shape and in the same place on both coils (I may post photos), possibly there is a wire that is getting hot beneath the plastic to cause the cover to crack?

My guess is the cracks are a result of internal stress caused by the mounting configuration. Since bodies were poured or created from the same mold, they would tend to crack in the same location.
