I was looking for what sounded like a loose tappet. None of the clearances were loose. Most of them were too tight. I've set the clearances now, but when I was doing it I noticed that 2 of the buckets wouldn't turn.

I pulled them out to try and free them up, and found slight damage in the head, which seems to be causing the buckets to stick. There is no corresponding damage on the cam or buckets, so I'm assuming that whatever happened has already been repaired. Also, there was no unusual marks on the shims, so I'm assuming that the bucket was turning OK once it was pushed down.

I really don't want to pull the head off (and open a can of worms), so I decided to take off some metal near the top where it looks like the damage was causing issues. The Buckets aren't quite as loose as all the others, but they are turning OK now.

Ha ha ha. Yep!
More time spent in that than doing the job. :biglaugh:

Looks like it should work just fine! They do need to turn since it will flat spot the cam lobes if they don't.
