Denver area Corbin, Maxgasser, or Morley Muscle seat?

I'm wondering if anyone in the Denver area that owns either the corbin or morley seat (or maxgasser even) would be generous enough to let me test it out? I'm in the market for a new seat and kind of stuck between the two. I'm a pretty big guy (6 foot 225lbs), and use my bike for a lot of longer distance stuff, so leaning towards the corbin. Just not wanting to drop 400 on something i'll end up regretting.

I have a Corbin on mine, like it, dont love it. I'm close to your size, I find it a little bit to firm for my narrow ass at 6,2 215. I also like long days. Can you ride a motorcycle in Denver? I was in Ft Collins not long ago and it was daunting to say the least.

i'm concerned the maxgasser pushes the rider position to far forward. hard to tell from pics, but not really sold on that. I guess i should say i'm willing to try it though :)

thats my one hesitation on the corbin... people keep commenting on how firm it is. I definitely want something that spreads out the pressure points (Stock seat feels like its cutting me in half on long days)... which is why the corbin appeals to me from pics.

i ride all the time in denver. traffic sucks though. i will avoid if i'm going somewhere during rush hour, but you can't seem to avoid it no matter the day of the week or time of the day. construction is happening somewhere.

Thats insane, the traffic. Where I live I can go 10 minutes in any direction and I'm well out of town but traffic inside is ugly and the drivers here are MUCH worse than I recall in Ft Collins.

I tried a Corbin on my Sprint ST and truly hated every moment of it, It felt like straddling a parking pillar. I ended up taking my bike to Richs custom uph in WA and had one custom made to fit specifically my ass. Best $650 I have ever spent.

I do have to say that after using the Corbin on the Max I do appreciate some of the firmness, turns out it is not nearly as bad as I recall but I have yet to pull an 800 mile day on this bike as I regularly did on the Triumph. I think some firmness is a good thing as opposed to overly soft and cushy, which would feel awesome for the first 200 miles but if the contact patch between you and the bike is to great than you will have less fresh skin to shift your position to. With the firmness and slipperyness of the Corbin it is very easy to shift weight and is less conducive to ball soup on hot days.

My direct observations with the Corbin on the Max is this.
1. It is wide, not the most comfortable at stop lights when you put your feet down, same for backing the bike up from a parking space, its just there and in the way. Being tall it's not a real problem as I'm sure you would be just fine at 6'+

2. It is flat and firm, surprisingly not as bad as it looks but if it were a touch less firm that would be great, I like being able to slide back a ways, if the rider position were any further forward it would reduce comfort for me. It's good but not perfect. I find the Vmax somewhat cramped anyways so extra room is nice.

If I were going to drop $500 on a new seat I would really consider something else first. I have yet to try the Gasser or Morleys but I plan on going to thunder next year and I hope to throw a leg over both before I make a decision on what to replace the Corbin with. I have never been involved with Iron Butt events but have done some long days like that and rode with a lot of tour oriented guys and not to many of them were sitting on Corbins.

Oh yea, all the Vmax owners are in Michigan! We're the anti-conformists, you and I! :punk:

Tell me about it. I never see gen 1 vmaxers around here... yet the other weekend I passed by two! I could tell they were as shocked to see me as I of them :)

I'm 6'3" at 220 lbs. and find the Corbin far superior to the OEM especially for log rides. My passengers concur since the Corbin is also wider for them. The smallest backrest offered looks great and can be removed in a pinch. It's just enough to give the passenger some confidence, no need for a Barcalounger on the Max style of motorcycle. I think the backrest was about $200.
I don't find any issue for my legs when stopped to touch, nor uncomfortable for the back of my thighs. It's a firm seat for certain, and seems drawn in it's design from the old style Harley pogo seats, and a horse saddle, but bigger. My gal says I haven't any real buns, at least not like a porn star, but it cradles my ass well. Yes, it is large that I can shift prop and move about to find a "new" comfortable position for that few extra miles before a refuel.
Both the OEM or the Corbin though, every once in awhile I will develop a cramp in my outer upper thigh, hip area, that aggravates me. I either need to stretch my leg out, resting my ankle on my factory engine guards or stand on the pegs breifly.
I've completed 700 to 800 km rides in a single day, and look forward to refuelling every couple of hundred for sure. Wouldn't most with anything other than a Goldwing or Venture feel this way? My 84 XJ750RL is a great sport tour, better than the Max, but even after 300 k I still want to stop.
Never tried anything other than the Corbin, but a dealership offered me a Mustang once. I found it looked too "pillowy" for looks.

From pics the corbin looks like seating position to be as far back as stock... is that not the case?

You could always reshape the stock seat yourself.
I'm 6'1" and around 180-185 lbs.
I shaved down the front (were my manhood sits) and the sides (where it used to cut off circulation in my thighs/legs) and added some 1" foam to the butt area, I can't remember if it was medium or high density, on mine years ago.
I still love it because I took my time (about 1/2 a day) and shaped it to fit my body.
I have ridden anywhere from 300 to 700 miles in a day on it and it is 1000x (or more) better than the stock seat was for me.
I still have to stretch my legs out to the crash guards occasionally on longer rides but, that's just due to my long legs and the standard peg position which I love for riding the twisty back roads I ride about 90% of the time.
I used this Guide:

And info from this site:

PS
It only cost me around $20 or so for the foam and upholstery glue.

This is what mine looks like vs. the stock shape:

The Maxgasser gives added back support and is a comfortable design. One long rides I like it better than the Corbin I had. Nothing worse than having a sore butt in the middle of a ride.
