Hello couple of years ago I had issue with my pick up coil. It would misfire when it got hot. Had a hard time chasing the problem down.

the misfiring was hard on the drivetrain as it would load and unload the drivetrain quickly

I notice now that the driveline has quite a bit of lash. Almost feels like worn u-joints

if I am sitting still and hold front brake and let out the clutch there is a clunking noise that seems like it is coming from the output shaft area (?)

do you know what could possibly be worn in there or is this lash normal and not cause for concern?

getting on and off the gas is no longer smooth and i find I am continually feathering the clutch to smooth out the lash

any suggestions or photos would be greatly appreciated

I'd remove the rear differential and check the pinion nut (under the driveshaft). It is common for those to break off which creates extra slack in the system and more noise.
