Hi All,

I have a 1997 Vmax.
My engine and valve covers have a glossy black paint.
I’ve seen later Vmax models with satin paint on the engine and covers.
Does anyone know which model years had that satin paint on the engine ?
Thanks

I use a Ford-code paint for the black engine finish. You can get it at any local auto parts store.

Should offer a drop off pull motor prep and paint and reinstall service! I'd pat at least $50 for that!!! Lol

I'd get in line for that, Might need another zero though. Such a pain doing it in the frame. But unless there's engine work, in the frame it is. A good dream next to only, 15 naked woman at my place, is- someone removes, soda blast my engine, then black epoxy coats it. Changes the oil adjust the valves, sends the carbs to Dan-o and then I wake up.

I would assume doing it in the frame would just suck and possibly not turn out good.

An earlier sandblast job. The crankcase left side cover & the valve covers were powdercoated gold, along with the two-pair opposed piston late-model calipers.

We use plastic media for our painted engines.

Liking the gloss black, specific to some early years. The yellow on the covers, from the factory I always found atrocious. A nicely painted engine does a lot for appearance. Imho.

What an amazing job Sean !
I may send you mine one day.
How much on average would it cost for sandblasting and paint it black ?

You're going to drop $1k give or take for the blasting and paint (typically would include some of the gaskets and valve adjustment).

So I would just need to ship the engine by itself to your business?
Probably in a crate and just add shipping back to that cost. Do you have an idea of the usual shipping cost (I’m on the west coast) ?
