Can someone confirm I've got this right...after removing the cap from top of the slider & the damping rod tube, does the spacer, seat & spring come out?

Leave the downtube cap in place and use an electric impact tool with an Allen socket or an air tool to take out the bottom of the slider bolt that holds the damper rod end in place. Early forks 85 to 89 had a drain screw, later model forks do not so when you remove the Allen screw plenty of oil will come out.

Guys, I'm not doing anything with the damper rod...just changing the fork springs. The damping rod tube screws to the adjuster in the fork cap. This is a gen 2 fork.
