I realize the fuel pump fills the carbs after the bike has sat but where does the gas go that it is replacing ? Evaporate ? Or does it go to the engine and end up in the oil ? Thanx for your help .

i think it either a. evaporates and/or b. some falls back down the gas lines... to the tank.

i dont' think so but not 100% sure. How would it get to the engine?

evaporation. The vent hoses are open to the atmosphere and being a volatile fuel the evaporation is a normal process. It could leak fuel into the engine if your needle seats are bad. Even then only a small amount from the bowls could leak down.

Not likely to leak back the other way unless both valves in the pump are bad and still then you have the issues of small amounts only.
