RC Component 18 inch wheels for Gen 1 Vmax NEED RECHROMED OR POWDERCOATED ! These wheels are 20 footers meaning they may look decent from 20 feet away but up close you can see the pitting. These wheels are way heavier than stock so if you are looking for weight saving these are not for you ! If you just want radials you could powdercoat these reasonable & have some nice wheels. Don't let CaptainKyle's mention of the weight of these scare you off, I have a RC rear wheel, and for me, it hasn't been an issue. The 18" rear will be slightly shorter in height than a OEM 15" 90-series wheel/tire combo, so you will maintain your top end speed. The 17" aftermarket wheels/tire combos are much-shorter, and will cost you top-end. I know most of us don't ever try to hit the 149 mph the bike's supposed to be capable of but if you take it to a track day, you will find out for yourself.

This is absolutely probably the cheapest you will ever get to allow you to run radial tires, buying aftermarket wheels. I consider going to radial tires on a Gen. 1 to be the single most-effective enhancement to its handling that you can make.

To take full advantage of the rear wheel/tire's width of 6 inches, you will need to widen the swingarm space by notching it further than stock. That should allow you to run a 190 series or a 200 with no rubbing, and no need to do the 'axle washer swap.'
