I am in the process of importing a max.
A 2LTNOOWA , the guy im dealing thru informs me that it is a Vboost V4 143hp model but all jap models are restricted to 180kph . Is there anyway round this?:hmmm:

I think all the difference was no vboost and different jetting. I may be wrong about the jetting though.

Total de-restriction for the Japanese Model:

USA Vboost & Control module + Electronics Needed
USA Exhaust
USA Speedometer

1 - Installing the vboost is obvious
2 - The Exhaust from 85 is best unless going aftermarket
3 - Replacing the Japanese Speedometer with a USA version is the easiest without hacking stuff.

The information below was sourced from Ingo's pages, but, you get the idea.

On the speedo is mounted a two-legged magnetic switch, that works with the electronics. On the back of the speedo-needle a disc with two different diameters is mounted. On idle - one end of this disc is between the two legs of the switch. When running, the disc is turned away from the switch until you reach 190 km/h. Then the other end of the disc reaches in between the switch, blocking the circuit...This activates the restriction (puts out one or two of the cylinders).

I thought I remember reading something about an electronic limiter on some of the Japanese bikes. I think it was located in the headlight shell. I'll look around and see if I can find it.

Dude what part of NZ are you in?

I was under the impression that the VMax is not restricted or came with any kind of rookie switch! But I could be wrong.
All bikes that are sold in Japan are limited in some way. Sucks for them.

in the Wairarapa and still looking ....

Is it certain parts that you are looking for? If it is, probably one2dmax on this forum would have most, if not all the parts you are looking for.
