Hi vmax pros,
I have the k&l rebuild kit as pictured and am wondering:
1. how to swap the float spring tube that is packed with the float spring as it seems pinned in.
2. Where all of the o rings go. I know about the gaskets and the thin large one but am stumped where the others go.
TIA

Use this link below to see where these O-rings go. Match the sizes as you disassemble things. This is a good time to take pics of what goes where.

In order of size - small to large:
- mixture screw
- purge jet under slide cover
- drain screw
- main jet access plug
- 'E' tube under jet block
- float chamber cover

access plug and 'E' tube o-rings are close to the same diameter - the thicker one goes on the access plug

That is very-helpful, thanks, dannymax. Let me know if there are any corrections. ;) 🏁

The float chamber cover gasket (below) is the one encircling the O-rings and the float needle and seat, of course.

Thanks Danny max. How do I swap out the float spring tube or collett?

99 % of the time they don't need changed just use the new needle.
I use a mirror to examine the seat, to discover if there is any accumulation of gum or debris, which would cause the carb to overflow out the drain tubes in the side carb mount brackets. I think I've only replaced one float needle due to having a sacked-out spring on a VMax. However, if I tear-down a set of carbs for the first time on a bike, I replace all the float needles as a matter of course.

A Q-tip and some decent carb cleaner will spiff-up that seat/those seats.

I have a friend who lost his shop due to a fire from a leaking petcock, on a repair he was doing for a shop who farmed-out the bike to him for trouble-shooting.

Push it up with a C clamp. As Capt. K said, it's rarely needed. Just polish the seat with some toothpaste on a Q-tip and rinse well.

If you need to replace the seat (and can't polish and re-use it) be sure to mic the aftermarket one...most are .002" - .003" undersize. OEM seats are recommended.
