Another 'bike in a crate' story, this happens to be a desirable Kawasaki ZX7-R.

In-Crate 1992 Kawasaki Ninja ZX-7R K2 Sold For Over $69,000 USD (rideapart.com)

I owned a ZX7, the ZX7-R was beyond that in specs. It was one of the best of its time. Few of any size stock bikes could best it.

Daytona 200 race results:

1995
Scott RUSSELL (USA), KawasakiSuperbike3.56 miles Daytona Speedway/Infield Course
1994
Scott RUSSELL (USA), KawasakiSuperbike3.56 miles Daytona Speedway/Infield Course
1993
Eddie LAWSON (USA), YamahaSuperbike3.56 miles Daytona Speedway/Infield Course
1992
Scott RUSSELL (USA), KawasakiSuperbike3.56 miles Daytona Speedway/Infield Course

Guess the basis for that bike? The homologation special, available to anyone who could pay the price, and get their friendly Big Green dealer to sell them one.

The 1998 Kawasaki ZX-7RR SBK pushed out close to 170 H.P. and spun up to almost 14K on the tach. Doug Chandler and Rob Muzzy bent the rules book in half and got away with it all...

I am sure my VTX1800 would go much faster, it is 1800!!!!! 💪 :)
Why would Doug and Rob ride a girls bike?:);)

I have 96' ZX11, love that bike:)
Did you buy 10mm (?) shims to adjust valves?
I am not buying sport bikes anymore, they make you ride faster.:) I also had 2000(?) ZX9, which had, I think more HP.

CC size doesnt always mean fast, My Vulcan 2000 was only good for 120, gearing limited it. I've owned a VTX1800 as well, the ZX11 is much faster.

expected work for 30 years old crate bike:

carbs rebuild,
hoses replacement, possibly including brake hoses.
calipers rebuild
wheel bearings(?)
rusty fuel tank
fuel pump replacement (if it has one)
new tires
switches overhaul cleaning
br. and clutch master cyl. rebuild
What did I forget? :D
Happy buyer will enjoy paying $2000(?) bill from repair shop.
It is a pretty bike, I would definitely pay $1000 for it. :)

Do you really think someone will take that out of the crate and ride it?

Come on.

You are right, it has more value in crate probably or... somebody will put it together and shoot video, they will keep 0 miles.
