I ve never made a vehicle claim in my life. One house claim and that took about two weeks or less if I recall.

But I am exactly at 1 month after the accident and I am still waiting on a settlement. Is this normal?

Everytime I call I get a new person that tells me something different. I was supposed to have a payment two weeks ago, but according to the people at the company it goes from one dept to another. Its supposed to be at the final dept now, but it turns out they handed it to a third party company to research the value of the bike.

I am just afraid they are going to come back and try and tell me I have a $500 bike or something. With all the custom parts I made and machined and then all the other aftermarket parts installed, which wasn't huge compared to some of the guys here, but it was starting.

I just have a feeling I am going to get hosed here.

Any input?

Todd, I feel your pain. Pics and documentation are your best bet. Sales slips too. Plus insurance companies seem to think if we did our own work, they don't need to compensate us for it. I am fed up with getting screwed. A good lawyer is sometimes the best way to go. I can't believe how even my own insurance co. can't be trusted to do the right thing. Progressive is a Co. that lets you insure for the value of customization. Don't take your eye off any of them. Their interest is in collecting rather than fairly paying claims.

Mine have been under one month. What I would do, is contact them, and immediately ask to talk to their supervisor.....and then keep doing the same thing, until you get to a level that someone can do something.

If you have an attorney , ask him if he takes a % of the property settlement if he handles it. Many do not. He'll know more about how to handle them , as he's in that business. Most insurance claims adjusters know you are under the gun financially to get something for your property damage claim. They are not. It makes no financial sense to them ( for them ) to make you happy , quickly or never. They hope you go away.

Your ace in the hole is you and your wife's bodily injury claim. Do not settle quickly. You can settle property and bodily injuries separately.

Soft tissue injuries can take a long time to completely heal and you might have a permanent partial bodily % of disability which makes them have to calculate how long you might live , how much you might make , how much you might lose , additional medical expenses over the course of a lifetime , etc. Chiropractors are o.k. , but look at them as physical therapists. Many vehicle accident victims go there . Orthopedic specialists carry more weight in their treatment , opinions , written testimony and court testimony if needed regarding your injuries. They also can recommend you to a physical therapist for your specific needs.

There is no bodily damage and it was just me on the bike.

If you are not hurt the claim will be be determined by who was at fault first. You will get absolutely nothing for ANY extras and will get the lowest bluebook value for a used vmax. Period.
I have been through 4 so far in 35 years. If no injuries usually within 2 months. If injuries usually 9 months of a chiropracter then settles in about 3 more months. Do you have an accident report from the police dept?

State farm doesn't use kbb or nada. They have their own third party I guess. Mitchell is the name I keep hearing.

There was no fault, no other people involved.
