Not sure of the year as I did not pull the part from a bike. Any #'s that may help?
Measure the body I.D and that should tell you (w/input from here) if you post it. The '85 was bigger I believe.

^ The 1985 VBoost tubes were actually smaller they were increased in 1986 to offset the more restrictive exhaust.
The 1985 VBoost tubes were 30mm and from 1986-2007 they were 32mm.

Thanks, I had it backwards! It was the exhaust headers which were larger in '85?

Also some of the manuals they show the '85 carbs to be 1mm smaller 34mm for '85 and 35 for the rest.

The cable and housing look newer than an '85 for sure but I can't really say that it's larger. Seems likely.
