Hello everyone. As many of you know, I am the recent owner of a Vmax 20th anniversary (2005) that I am very happy with... until a few hours ago, I will explain.

You already know that last August I had a terrible accident with my Vmax EURO 2001 from which I am still recovering. That bike was converted to full power with a vboot kit, wide exhausts, membranes, bumpers,,,ect. She was the one who injected the VMAX sense and feeling into my vein.

For a week I have been driving my Vmax 2005 American version (49 state) again and what has been my surprise that this motorcycle does not "push" as it did the previous one.

Looking for information about the final transmission of the EURO version to the American version I see that there are differences...

Final transmission EURO 21/27x33/10....2.567
American final transmission 21/27x33/09....2.852

I have saved some records in 5th gear from my previous motorcycle and I get the following results

3000rpm..........54mph
4000rpm..........71mph
5000rpm..........87mph

Well, this afternoon I went out to check those same results with my new bike, and the results are quite different.

3000rpm........50mph
4000rpm........65mph
5000rpm........80mph

I am attaching some photographs of this afternoon's outing.

My question is this. Which of the two transmissions are worth it. I have the possibility of exchanging since the damaged motorcycle is close to me, but I really don't know if it's worth it or not.

What is true is that at the OUTPUT my previous motorcycle came out with a lot, but a lot more anger than this new motorcycle, I'm in a mess and bewildered... I don't know which is better or which is worse.

Greetings to all and sorry for my horrible English

The lower (higher numerically) USA transmission gives more rpm's for the same speed, and if everything was stock, the acceleration should be better, but with a lower top-end.

A stock VMax built to USA-spec should be making somewhere about 110 RWHP on a Dynojet 250 dynomometer. The highest horsepower I ever saw on a VMax in USA bike magazines, was 119 RWHP, about 9 RWHP above the average USA market bike.

The manufacturers were well-known for prepping a bike provided to magazines for road tests.

I suspect you got a better-performing than average bike when you swapped parts on your Euro bike to make it a USA full-power bike. With its lower numerically rear end, compared to a USA bike, it should have been slower than a USA bike tuned the same.

TO NOTE, the difference is the rear end gear. Easily swapped and you can get your differences validated. It's about a 10% ratio change. In the US we use the Venture diff's to get the same results (though it takes away some of the pep compared to the US ratio gearing)
