John Surtees died, the oldest Formula 1 driver's champion, and the only F1 and world motorcycle roadracing champion.

I saw him race at Watkins Glen the year he won his world championship driving a Ferrari. Nearly fifty years later I ran into him at Daytona Bike Week in the pits, just another spectator. We had a great chat. Godspeed John Surtees.

I saw him at The Glen in 1968, racing the Honda F1 car. A few years later at The Glen, I watched Mike Hailwood drive a Surtees-Ford in the F1 race. Those two gentlemen are among the very few sports figures I call heroes. Godspeed to both.
