Alright... So I am 25 years old, single and have a perfect driving record. I'm currently paying $70 per month for full coverage insurance on my 2006 vmax.

I just called to get a quote to see what its going to take to up the coverage to cover $10,000 worth of custom work recently done to it. This jumped my rates up to $107 per month. I thought that was a little steep. I go through Allstate and have for almost 10 years.

Just curious who you insure through and what kind of coverage do you have? What do you pay out?

Allstate has always been friendly enough but I've never had to use them. Anybody Have some positive or negative experience with insurance companies ? Let's hear em!

Im 50... clean record for 20 years... full coverage with full medical on my '06 Max... $34 a month... $15 a month with no medical... hows that? :punk::punk: :clapping::clapping:

Have a look at this: Insurance

I'm 39 and pay Allstate $107/year for:
  • Bodily Injury: $100,000/person, $300,000/occurrence
  • Property Damage: $50,000/occurrence
  • Motorcycle Collision Insurance, Actual Cash Value,$250 deductible
  • Motorcycle Comprehensive Insurance, Actual Cash Value, $250 deductible
  • Optional or Added Equipment: $1,000
  • Towing and Labor Costs: $100
  • Additional Coverage
    • Motorcycle Death Indemnity: $15,000
    • Motorcycle Disability Income: $100/wk
  • Discounts
    • Multiple Policy, Home Ownership, Organization, Good Rider, Recovery Device

after all of the monkey bits i've done to the bike over the year, I should bump up the "optional or added". thanks for the inadvertent heads up.

Wow! I'm getting boned. I was told the most medical coverage I could get is $10,000 coverage and it was an extra like $35 per month. 10 grand will barely cover the ambulance ride and part of walking into the ER

some people hate 'em but i have progressive and pay like $500 a yr for the vmax and the harley with pretty good coverage and $7k of coverage on the vmax.

I have Markel American and minimun coverage since i doubt i am going to hurt anyone but me. 25000/50000 body, passenger and property liability, med payments 5000, comp which is based on actual value (next to nothing) no collision. Cost $152.00 per year. I am under insured on the bike, but it is used for pleasure only.

I have bare bones insurance right now since the bike is not on the road. It is something like $80/year.

When I get back on the road I will renew my full coverage.
You can get some different coverage options that change your premium. Here is the quote from my broker.

Bodily Injury 250/500K $26/year
Property Damage 5K $8/year
Passenger Liability 250/500K $26/year
Personal injury Protection 5K $2/year
Unisured Motorist 250/500K $49/year
Underinsured Motorist 250/500K $6/year
Comprehensive $32/year
Collision $116/year
Accessories 3.5K $5.00

Total $344/year

Bare bones minimum full coverage with Progressive...under $100 a year. I have all my other insurance through State Farm, but not the bike, they wanted WAY too much. Shop around Horrendous, you'd be surprised at the differences on bike insurance. Some quote off the size of the engine, while others quote the type of bike that it is. ie: crotch rocket vs cruiser

I'm 62 years old, perfect driving record. I keep state minimums on my 3 bikes, 1985 Max, 2002 Roadstar, 2003 Suzuki Burgman 400. $76.00/year. For all 3!

Back in 1967 I had a Honda S65. 63 roaring ground pounding CC's. Cost me almost $200.00/year!

I am 59, 2 Vmax's, my FZ8 and a 1200 Sportster with no med, or uninsured motorist. 100,000-300,000, 50,000,
Stolen Vehicle Recovery, Optional Eqpt., Total Loss Settlement except on the 89 Max... $527.00 a year with Foremost Ins.......

Damn, Ninja your almost an Old Fart...

I'm 21, single, and have 1 speeding ticket on my record (3 in total, but the rest were out of state and so don't count).

I pay $194 per year for full coverage for my '97 Max through Progressive. $500 deductible.

You're getting royally ripped off dude.

I recently laid by bike down after getting cut off by and oldster. Adjuster showed up first thing the next morning, and they paid handsomely. Full retail value for anything that was so much as scuffed in the crash. I ended up with three checks totaling around $2100 for a 20mph lowside. Customer service was prompt and satisfactory. They paid for the bike parts, my riding gear, helmet, boots, everything.

I really can't complain. For once I can actually back up their ads for "#1 in motorcycle insurance". When I originally bought the policy, I had checked Geico, allstate, and others, and they were anywhere from 2-3x as much. The policy automatically includes up to $3000 of "aftermarket accessory" coverage, and more can be added if you wish. Mine was the default $3k.

I'm now at $225 a year full coverage, including the custom bits, and no deductible, through Allstate.
I went with them because they were the only one who would insure my chopper.
Geico, Progressive, State Farm said they said, because it was a custom and not a production bike they wouldn't insure it. I've been with my insurance agent for 7 years now and no complaints.

Wonder why mine is so much more expensive through the same company.

I'm 20 years older, multi-vehicle discount (my trucks insured with them too), and I used to teach a riding and winter driving class for the solders that move up here.
Location and other things will raise your rates too.
If you take a riding class that might knock your rates down a bit.

Damn.. I just got off the phone with state farm insurance. If I get renters insurance and combine my bike And jeep policy + $8,000 in coverage to my custom vmax work its only $50 per month. With Allstate that same coverage was stout.d $170 per month! Calling to cancel my Allstate right now.

That $50 per month is liability on my jeep and full coverage on vmax with an extra $8000 coverage for custom work... I can't believe how much cheaper this is.

Hmmm...let me get the policy for this...

Vmax Full coverage100/300/50 $49
Zuma Liability only $11
VStar Custom Full coverage $48
KLX250S Liability only $13
VTR250 Liability only $11
RoadGlide Full coverage $97
WideGlide Full coverage $76

Total Annual Premium $305

45 years old and riding since I was a young kid...clean record too.

Sure sounds like Canada sucks arse when it comes to insurance premiums!

I just got the best quote in for my 2000 Max (my first year of insurance in Oz) from Shannons Insurance (specialist insurers) and a year fully comp with a value of $9000 is $452 inc all taxes.
