See post #22 from member ninjaneer, a chart of master cyl sizes for Japanese bikes. Before buying anything, confirm for yourself the accuracy of the posted info.

Also a chart for determining master cyl sizes, based upon # of caliper pistons, double values for two calipers. Thank our Ducati brothers.

Brake Master cylinder to wheel cylinder ratios (ducatimeccanica.com)

The old link supplied by Max Midnight now displays as an unsafe website, so I don't use it-vintagebrake.com

That site is beyond unsafe. It's actually been suspended. That's pretty bad. He must have been doing something either illegal or against the terms of service and got hammered for it.

It's too bad because the guy had a lot of information about brake systems both drum and disk, master cylinder sizes and parts for vintage bikes brake systems.

I just saw an article online that said rim brakes on quality bicycles are going away that the manufacturers are no longer making aluminum frame bikes unless it's a quality product like some specialists boutique brand. It also said the same thing about manual shifting which is being replaced by electronic shifting on quality bikes.

This is distressing to me because I have vintage manual shift and rim brake bicycles from Colonago-a roadbike, a Klein Attitude off-road bike, a Litespeed (Ti frame) road bike and a vintage Greg LeMond road bike. Only the Colnago has Campagnolo, everything else is Shimano manual shift.

It's what called progress. I invested heavily into 26in/ 3x10, did not buy any 27.5/2x10 geared bikes but jumped back in at 29in/1x11.

It seems now even 1x11 has been superceded by 1x12, just try buying a replacement chainring for 3x9 = next to impossible and you're forced to buying a complete chainset... and don't even mention boost grrrrrr.....

You can find many old sites info still stored on the Internet Archive site (just google it).

Sean, thanks for that suggestion. In this case, because of the potential for some Eastern Euro hacker seizing control of my computer if there's some Trojan horse embedded into my computer from that website, I can get the same info elsewhere. I have followed your advice about the Internet Archive before, and I had no issues. I think it was when I was looking for lvlhead's website for the VMax.
